Canadian extreme thrash metal band Korrosive is back with a vengeance, releasing their powerful new single “امام در آتش” (“Imam Immolation”) from their forthcoming album Katastrophic Creation. Set to drop on September 3rd, 2024, the album will be available on all major streaming platforms, as well as in CD and vinyl formats via CDN Records.
“امام در آتش,” the fifth track on the album, serves as the spiritual sequel to Korrosive’s hit “Slaughter the Preacher” from their debut album Kaustic Hordes. Written by drummer Kaveh Afshar, who was born and raised in Iran, the track delivers a searing critique of theocratic oppression and authoritarian rule. The lyrics are a first-person perspective on the brutal dictatorship in Iran, inspired by the protests following the tragic death of Mahsa Amini.
Afshar, who lived through the political unrest of Iran in the 1980s, channels his personal experiences and the ongoing struggles of the Iranian people into this hard-hitting anthem. With the music written by guitarist Jack Neila, “امام در آتش” is a relentless assault on tyranny, blending the band’s signature thrash sound with a message of defiance and resistance.
Korrosive has also premiered the official music video for “امام در آتش” on Metal Devastation Radio, providing fans with a visual experience as intense as the song itself. The video underscores the band’s commitment to addressing real-world issues through their music.
Katastrophic Creation, produced by the acclaimed Ben Erikson, promises to deliver an even heavier, more raw, and crushing sound than Korrosive’s previous work. The album represents the band’s continued evolution, pushing the boundaries of thrash metal and cementing their place in the genre’s forefront.
