ANALOG DREAM, the five-piece band founded by Jorge Sandoval and Rich Cannon, are excited to share their new single, “The Shape Of Us” out on May 28, 2026 via New York’s Soundvsystem Records. The song contemplates the left-behind silhouettes of past friendships.
About the new single, Sandoval says, “This song is really about trying to understand how and why things changed with people who once meant so much to you. It’s about wondering if they ever think about you, and what kind of impact you still have on their lives—if any at all.”
Analog Dream is not chasing trends. Their songs sit at the intersection of alternative rock’s intensity, shoegaze’s sonic weight, and indie rock’s kinetic energy. Bringing on Caleb Dolister (drums), Kevin Fayle (synth) and Sarah Reinke (bass), the band’s sound has evolved beyond the two-piece project it was founded on. “The Shape Of Us” leans into a more shoegaze-forward sound, while still holding onto the fundamental sonic architecture of Analog Dream. It also happens to be the band’s favorite.
“The Shape Of Us” is a search for the motivation behind friendships unraveling. The connections that come undone with the passing of time are boiled down to a single image in the chorus, “like a signal breaking through/cutting out.” The emotive guitar lead against the ethereal synth textures creates tension, mirroring the relentless changes within friendships.
