Acoustic artist Kitahrah has officially released her deeply personal rendition of “My Immortal,” the iconic song originally made famous by hard rock powerhouse Evanescence.

Inspired specifically by Dayseeker’s haunting interpretation, Kitahrah’s version takes the emotionally charged classic into a stripped-down acoustic setting, allowing the song’s melody, lyrics, and vocal performance to carry its full emotional weight.

For Kitahrah, “My Immortal” is far more than simply a cover. The song has been part of her life since childhood, when its haunting melody and unmistakable sense of sadness first captured her attention.

“As a child, I’d listen to the song and wonder about the sadness and longing in Amy’s voice. As I grew older, the lyrics started to have more meaning.”

That evolving connection became the foundation for Kitahrah’s own interpretation. While “My Immortal” has resonated with listeners through countless personal experiences, Kitahrah was particularly drawn to its themes of grief, death, loss, and longing.

Taking cues from the emotional weight of both Evanescence’s original and Dayseeker’s version, Kitahrah sought to capture those same feelings while putting her own vocal personality and emotional delivery at the forefront.

“With that, I feel that my emotional delivery has improved since Homesick, and I’m rather proud of that.”

The result is an intimate acoustic performance that places the emotional core of “My Immortal” front and center. Rather than relying on a massive arrangement, Kitahrah lets the song breathe, creating a vulnerable and heartfelt interpretation that feels both familiar and distinctly her own.
