Call ov the Void’s “On Grief and Dying”: A Profound Exploration of Loss and Grieving

Drawing inspiration from the stages of grief proposed by Swiss psychologist Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, Call ov the Void unveils their debut full-length album, “On Grief and Dying.” This captivating album, comprising eight tracks, delves into the various ways of experiencing loss and grieving, offering listeners a deeply immersive and introspective journey.

Produced to perfection by Samuel Becerra and masterfully mastered by legendary producer Dan Swanö at Unisound Studios, “On Grief and Dying” is a testament to Call ov the Void’s commitment to delivering uncompromising quality in their music. The spectral voices of Błażej Kasprzak (of Batushka and Sturmovik fame) in the track “A Peaceful Surrender” add an ethereal layer to the album’s haunting melodies and profound lyrics.

Loosely based on the stages of grief, the album seamlessly blends elements of 90’s doom/death with influences from black metal and melodeath, showcasing the band’s diverse musical palette and exceptional musicianship. From the somber tones of the intro to the emotionally charged ballad, each track on “On Grief and Dying” offers a unique perspective on the complexities of loss and mourning.

Featuring George San Román on bass/vocals, José Luis Vargas on guitar/vocals, René Álvarez on guitar, and Axel Fabricio on drums, Call ov the Void pours their hearts and souls into every note of this intricate and profound work. The album’s depressive yet captivating atmosphere is a testament to the band’s dedication to their craft and their ability to evoke raw emotions in their listeners.

With “On Grief and Dying,” Call ov the Void solidifies their place as one of the most promising bands in the metal scene, leaving audiences spellbound with their haunting melodies and introspective lyrics. This debut album promises to be a milestone in the band’s career and a must-have for fans of dark, atmospheric metal.
