FFO: Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Opeth, Tool, Windhand, The Stooges, Russian Circles, Mastodon, Queens of the Stone Age
Vancouver, Canada: Independent music duo Post Death Soundtrack (PDS) is excited to announce the release of their fourth full-length album, “Veil Lifter,” now available on all major digital platforms. This album marks a stark departure from their previous sound, embracing a raw, guitar-driven approach that merges doom, grunge, and thrash into a relentless auditory experience.
After the sophisticated industrial soundscapes of their last album, “It Will Come Out of Nowhere,” PDS has returned to their musical roots inspired by giants such as Alice in Chains, Nirvana, and The Stooges, while also channeling the innovative spirit of contemporary heavy hitters like Windhand and Queens of the Stone Age. “Veil Lifter” offers 10 tracks of sludgy riffs, hypnotic grooves, and hardcore fury, all set against a backdrop of empyrean ambience.
“Veil Lifter is the album I’ve always wanted to make,” explains Stephen Moore, PDS’s vocalist and guitarist. “It’s a deep dive into the shadows of isolation, depression, and resilience. Written during times of intense personal turmoil, this album is both a protective chant and a bold confrontation of inner demons.”
The album’s themes are provocative and uncensored, exploring mental illness, spiritual warfare, and the quest for truth through a mix of heavy metaphor and dream-like imagery. The title itself, “Veil Lifter,” is derived from Eastern philosophy, symbolizing the quest to transcend ignorance and discover intrinsic truths.
Jon Ireson, who handles bass, additional guitars, and production, shares insights into the album’s creation: “The raw bones of these songs formed quickly, capturing an organic live sound that’s new for us. Once we added Steve’s intense vocals and Casey Lewis’s dynamic drumming, the album really came to life.”
Key tracks such as “Icy Underground” and “Lowdown Animal” showcase the band’s new direction, featuring visceral and compelling soundscapes that reflect the band’s evolution. Fans can also look forward to a limited edition vinyl release, set to follow shortly.
“Veil Lifter” is dedicated to the memory of Moore’s father, Ted George Moore, reflecting a personal and heartfelt tribute woven into the fabric of the album.
