ERIK CORE “Dynamite Tears” blends punk urgency with a tribute to the Labor movement and working-class

ERIK CORE returns with “Dynamite Tears”, a fierce new single blending punk urgency with a tribute to the Labor movement and working-class just in time for May Day. Known for his signature “Acousticore” sound, Core continues to evolve—delivering politically charged, emotionally resonant songs that confront hypocrisy while holding onto hope.

Erik Core has performed extensively throughout the United States and Europe. A West Coast tour is planned for 2026 in support of “Dynamite Tears”.

“Erik Core is part of the tradition of protest singers/songwriters extending back to Woody Guthrie… speaking truth to power that’s needed during the current assault on democracy in the name of religion and nativism…”– Razorcake

“A punk rock version Woodie Guthrie with the storytelling you’d expect from Johnny Cash.”– James Damion / Jersey Beat

“Erik Core from San Francisco brings us the finest, rhythm-driven acoustic punk… with its gloomy, almost desperate mood…” – Ox Fanzine

Erik Core has spent over three decades pushing the limits of acoustic-driven punk. Blending the raw urgency of punk with the storytelling traditions of folk and outlaw country, Core’s self-described “Acousticore” sound sits somewhere between the grit of Lou Reed, the stark narrative power of Johnny Cash, the dark intensity of Nick Cave, and the working-class urgency of Chuck Ragan—rooted in the protest lineage of Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan.

Core delivers explosive, high-energy sets driven by percussive guitar work and a commanding vocal range that moves from a deep baritone to unrestrained howls. Al Stingle on bass and Jack Often on drums provide the dynamic backbone enhancing the rhythms. His songs are politically charged and emotionally direct, confronting religion, war, and systemic hypocrisy while holding onto a thread of defiant hope.

A longtime presence in the West Coast underground, Core has toured extensively from San Diego to Vancouver and across Europe, including Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Hungary. He has shared stages with artists such as Jello Biafra, The Damned, Pansy Division, Kevin Seconds, Tribe 8, and Supersuckers.

Core’s latest full-length release, Killing the Sacred, is his sixth full-length album and a defining statement of his evolution. The record fuses acoustic punk intensity with unflinching social commentary, earning praise for its fearless lyricism and powerful delivery. Critics have placed him firmly within the lineage of protest songwriters, noting his ability to “pull zero punches” while letting stark truths speak for themselves.

His newest single, “Dynamite Tears”, is a tribute to the grit, fight, blood, strength, and courage of the Labor movement. It honors the continuous ongoing fights and struggles the working-class experiences, while delivering a message of hope and triumph just in time for May Day!
