Romanian Black Metal band Mauna Sol released their debut album, “The Calling“, on May 15, 2026, in collaboration with Loud Rage Music.
Featuring eight tracks of diverse and immersive Black Metal infused with elements of Post-Black Metal, Melodic, Progressive and Atmospheric Metal, “The Calling” delivers a dynamic and multifaceted sonic journey that balances aggression, melancholy and expansive atmospheres.

Mauna Sol is a post-black metal band from Brașov, Romania, formed in 2019 by five musicians who sought to channel their diverse musical backgrounds and inner darkness through black metal.
While their sound is rooted in traditional extreme metal, the music is built around a short tale written by George, the band’s frontman. Each song explores specific parts of this narrative, shifting between raw intensity and melancholic nuances, enriching the dynamic range of their sound.
Lyrically, the songs give voice to a self-imposed hermit. He recounts his journey toward personal rebirth through a “suicide of identity” – a grueling process set within a hostile desert, where the old self must be shed to allow for the new.

BALASHTOTH Released a New Single, “Self = Dark Side”
Following the release of the first single and the announcement of their upcoming debut full-length, Ireland based Melodic Death Metal act BALASHTOTH now unveils a second track taken from “Equation II: The Antithesis of Life and Free Will“, scheduled for release on June 12 through Pest Records, Metal Ör Die Records and Not-Even-Music.
The new single, “Self = Dark Side“, showcases another facet of the band’s intense and emotionally charged approach to Melodic Death Metal, blending aggressive riffing, intricate songwriting and atmospheric depth into a dark and dynamic composition.

“Equation II: The Antithesis of Life and Free Will” follows the band’s two previously released EPs and marks a significant step forward in both scope and musical ambition. The album further expands BALASHTOTH‘s sound through the inclusion of viola and Moog synth arrangements performed on three tracks by Adam Toth (Kajgūn, ex-The Dethroners, Art of Dethronement).
The photographs used for the album artwork were captured by Péter Jakab, former vocalist of the Hungarian Brutal Death Metal band Depths of Depravity.
