Blending crushing grunge-inspired guitars with progressive rock’s shifting time signatures and atmospheric instrumental passages, the Portland, Oregon band crafts a multi-part suite that plays out like a rock opera. The classroom becomes a launching point for a much larger meditation on authority, conformity, and psychological collapse spiraling through dissociation, isolation, and institutional restraint before arriving at the possibility of escape. It’s uncomfortable, theatrical, and unflinchingly sincere all at once, refusing easy villains or tidy resolutions. “School” is the rare song that demands patience in a distracted era, and rewards every minute of it.
