Finnish modern metal band Volucrine released their fifth album ‘Chapter V: Renewal’ via Inverse Records on September 25th 2026.

The band’s mastermind Jupe Velin comments:
“The year 2024 brought with it, on a personal level, a serious crisis and a series of setbacks, from which I managed, with great difficulty, to get back on my feet only by turning to songwriting. It was just me, a new blank white page and a void that had to be filled with something. From this arose the central question of our new album: How to build a new life from nothing? In fact, never before has a Volucrine album come about so quickly and instinctively. Every track on the album represents a stage in the process, a chapter in its own right within a larger whole. It was a conscious choice to let the tracks emerge without the pressure to fit into any particular genre box. That’s why I feel, one hundred per cent, that ‘Chapter V: Renewal’ is the purest and most honest Volucrine ever. Taking both ends of the spectrum into account, it’s our heaviest and, at
the same time, our lightest album.
As with our previous album “ETNA”, our bassist Joni Kyynäräinen is once again in charge of production. He recorded the drums, bass, some of the guitars and mixed the album. This time, I wanted to get involved by recording all the vocal tracks and rhythm guitars in my home studio. This meant I could take my time to refine, layer and produce the vocal tracks to my heart’s content. Consequently, in terms of arrangement, the overall sound is very rich and grand, featuring plenty of harmonies and backing vocals.
A broader musical palette than before provided a great opportunity to invite guest artists to feature on the album. Otto Närhi (Nestruction, Psychework), who previously played on our album “The Lead Heavens”, recorded the piano parts on the tracks “Moving Mountains” and “The Sum of Changes”. Sanni Teitto (KuuDelta) lent her beautiful, vivid voice to the duet “Drift”. I hope that, with this album at the very latest, our audience will realise that Volucrine has never been simply about the heaviest riffs or the dirtiest metal vocals, but purely about music, which draws on styles or genres to channel different emotions in the best possible way. And although we always let the song dictate the musical direction, we strive to do so without losing our own distinctive and recognisable sound. Many of today’s arena-level artists have built their sound by incorporating influences from other musical genres. Perhaps the world is beginning to be ready
to appreciate our own diverse musical palette as well.“

BIOGRAPHY:
VOLUCRINE are a Finnish alternative metal collective, who released their debut album in 2011. Four albums, two EP’s and countless live shows later, the band’s personal style has been honed to its peak, still emphasizing bold testing of boundaries within their genre. The band has a strong focus on their lyrics, which, due to their deeply personal nature, give Volucrine’s music a human voice.
After the ETNA LP, which garnered a lot of positive attention worldwide, the band is finally ready to present new material from their upcoming album, “Chapter V: Renewal”, which is released in September 25th through Inverse Records. With the theme of rebirth, we can expect the unexpected from this album as a great circle is closed.
