ANASTASIA ELLIOT’s “Mayday” sees humanity sending out a distress signal, but to who?

FFO: Halestorm, Royal Blood, Pretty Reckless, Muse, In This Moment

RIYL: alt-rock, goth rock, hard rock, alt-metal

Spilling the tea about her latest track “Mayday”, ANASTASIA ELLIOT shares, “I find it funny that humanity is constantly looking to the stars for someone to come save us, when we’re the ones creating so much of the chaos down here. That’s where MAYDAY came from. We seem so convinced that there’s something out there that’s going to swoop in and fix everything for us. But why would we assume that?”

“As I’ve been building out the world around this song, I’ve had a lot of fun exploring what happens when something actually does answer that distress call. Because who’s to say they have any interest in saving us? Maybe they’ve got their own agenda.”

Alt-rock musician, ANASTASIA ELLIOT has been reported missing, just days before the release of her latest single, “Mayday”. The purple-haired rock singer was last seen outside Nashville, walking through a field of cows with nothing but her guitar and a leather bag. Video evidence found on the scene shows Anastasia being hit with a bright flash of light from above before the recording ends abruptly.

Sources indicate that after the release of her debut visual-album, “La Petite Mort”, Anastasia shifted gears towards her next project: An in-depth investigation into the presence of alien life on earth. She dedicated countless hours to creating social media and podcast content on the subject, and claimed to have uncovered a massive conspiracy to cover-up the involvement of aliens in every level of our society.

“Her time at a major label gave her real insight into the secret societies and reptilian shapeshifters running the music industry,” said one anonymous insider close to the situation. “Once you lift the veil and see how much of music is controlled by the Illuminati and their alien overlords, it’s a slippery slope into wondering how far that influence reaches. Her management team has declined comment on the matter, simply saying they “hope Anastasia finds her way home safely” and that they are “focused on the release of the single, out September 18th and will not let any distractions, media rumors, or alleged alien abductions keep us from ensuring her most successful release to date.”

“Mayday,” co-written with Lincoln Parrish (Cage the Elephant), tackles a subject that’s consumed Anastasia for the past two years: a divided, apathetic population pinning its hopes on an alien invasion to save it. The song flips the classic “take me to your leader” trope. This time, humanity is the one begging for off-world leadership. Anastasia explains: “The world is on fire and everyone knows it. We feel helpless, overwhelmed, and anxious. ‘Mayday’ is about a society that would rather look to anything outside itself to save it than take responsibility and change course. Instead of working together, we point fingers. Mayday is a warning, a desperate call for help. Aliens, if you’re listening, please come save us.”

“Mayday” is the lead single off Anastasia’s forthcoming album Mis.Fortune, out next spring, with another single following this fall.

“Drenched in an alluring softness that erupts into an extravagant chorus highlighting Elliot’s operatic vocal training, she makes it clear that she can carry any note with ease.” – ALT Press

“Her prior training with operatic singing and classical music come through in dramatic nuances like anxiously chromatic strings and Elliot’s own expansive but well-supported voice belting out ends of phrases with a decisive authority that flashes shades of Florence Welch.” – American Songwriter

“Anastasia Elliot is making cutting-edge music the way that she wants to, by giving her audience exceptional, electro-infused pop music that is both groundbreaking and unique.” – Guitar Girl Mag

Anastasia Elliot is known throughout the music industry for her remarkably powerful, operatically trained voice, but she is far more than a singer. A true maximalist, the purple-haired artist works across disciplines in ways that push the boundaries of what’s possible for an unsigned indie act.

A skilled film director as well as a vocalist, she conceived her debut LP, La Petite Mort, not as a record but as a full visual album, layered with symbolism and built on Hollywood-caliber production and costume design. The project began while she was signed to a major label, but after an executive shake-up, the label demanded she abandon the rock album she’d created in favor of an electro-pop sound. Rather than compromise her vision, Elliot walked away from the deal, completed the project independently, and self-released it in 2023.

That uncompromising standard has paid off: her catalog has earned millions of streams and views, powering a devoted, fast-growing global fanbase known as her “Purple Cult.” In 2025, the synth-driven single “Wish I Could Be Better” became her first to chart on radio. Her high-energy live shows have reached legendary status in Nashville, where she’s repeatedly sold out some of the city’s largest venues, and in 2026 she took that energy on the road nationally in addition to playing major festivals.

Her latest single, “Mayday,” co-written with Lincoln Parrish of Cage the Elephant, arrived in September 2026 as the lead single from her sophomore album, Mis.Fortune, due out in spring 2027. The record fuses Elliot’s commanding vocals and pop sensibility with danceable synth grooves and a newly forged hard rock edge, expanding her sound while opening new creative territory. Yet no matter the genre she explores, every project bears the same unmistakable signature: the singular vision of Anastasia Elliot.
