Formed in 2006 by former “Deflorace” members in the Czech Republic, Be Fading Fast delivers a crushing blend of old school death metal, thrash, and hardcore intensity. Built around vocalist Masters, guitarists Dodi and Phill, and drummer Smetak, the band established their relentless style across their debut album “Victims” (2008) and “Global Attack” (2011). Despite lineup shifts, hiatuses, and injuries, the group’s core resilience remained unbroken. Following years of dedicated songwriting, Be Fading Fast returned to Bzenec’s legendary Shaark Studio to forge their long-awaited third full-length album, “Phobophobia” (2026) – a ferocious digital release that reaffirms their enduring, uncompromising presence in the underground metal scene.

BE FADING FAST
Band History 2006–2026
Be Fading Fast was formed in the summer of 2006 after the founding members (Pablo – guitar,
Pavel – guitar, Dodan – bass, Smetak – drums) left the death-grind band Deflorace. In the autumn of
the same year, the band began working intensively on new songs to build a repertoire long enough for
a full live set. At the same time, the band was looking for a singer. The first serious attempt was with a
local vocalist, Kovi, whose style had a bit of an HC edge and seemed promising. However, due to
work and study commitments, he had to leave the band. He left behind several lyrics, which were later
used in the songs “Angels Never Come” and “Murder Of My Nation”.
In January 2007, singer Masters more or less accidentally found his way into the band. He had
previously played with Pablo in the speed metal band Empire as a vocalist whose role was to make
the music even heavier. In March 2007, BFF played its first show at Nora in Kopřivnice, performing
eight completely new songs along with covers by Brutal Truth, Napalm Death and S.O.D.
During 2007, the material for the first CD was completed and recorded at Tony Sound Studio in
Pustějov. The album, titled Victims, was later released as BFF’s official debut. It was financed by the
band and issued through the newly established label Creates, which unfortunately is no longer active.
The album artwork was created by Roman Kýbus, best known for his work with the band Root.
The following year, 2008, was more or less a period of stagnation for BFF. Apart from the official
album release show in April and a number of concerts, there were also personal disagreements within
the band. Everything culminated in guitarist Pavel leaving towards the end of the summer. He was
quickly replaced by guitarist Jaryn, and by November the band was once again performing live as a
five-piece.
The following year, 2009, was marked by increased songwriting and live activity. The band played
shows in Slovakia and Poland and recorded the four-song promo Dark Age at Shaark Studio in
Bzenec in June. The decision to record a promo instead of another full-length album came from BFF’s
desire to find its own sound and, above all, to gain experience working in a studio specializing in this
type of music, where some of the Czech metal scene’s best albums were being produced. The goal
was achieved completely.
Throughout the summer and autumn, BFF continued to play live, with a significant number of
shows performed as a four-piece without guitarist Jaryn. Despite this, the audience response was
extremely positive. After about a year of evaluating the cooperation, and due in part to health issues,
BFF and Jaryn mutually agreed to part ways. Soon afterwards, Marcel joined the band. His first
rehearsal took place in December 2009, and he soon became a full member, completing the line-up
once again. The plan was to finish the material for the second album and record it around the middle
of 2010.
In July 2010, BFF spent a long weekend recording its second full-length album, Global Attack.
Following the positive experience with the Dark Age promo, Shaark Studio in Bzenec was chosen
once again. A total of eight songs were recorded: four brand-new tracks and four re-recorded songs
from the promo. The rest of the summer was spent finishing the album and looking for a label.
The year 2011 brought a slightly different approach to live performances. The number of exchange
shows was reduced, which also meant fewer concerts in the local area. On the other hand, the Polish
scene provided much more activity. It was also in Poland that the band found a label for Global Attack.
The album was released through Mad Lion Records, a label focused on extreme music. It came out on
11 November 2011, with the release show taking place in Kraków.
Autumn 2011 also brought a major change behind the microphone. By mutual agreement, Masters
left the band, and towards the end of the year Redy took over vocal duties. The band spent several
months working with the new singer, and by spring 2012 BFF was back on stage in full strength. The
band continued playing live until December 2012, when its activities were put on hold indefinitely.
In December 2016, the idea of bringing BFF back in its original line-up, including Masters,
emerged. Several phone calls between the members were followed by a meeting, during which the
decision was made to restart the band. From January 2017 onwards, BFF began rehearsing and
preparing a live set. Even the long break had not diminished the band’s energy or aggression. The
return to the stage and the first test after the hiatus took place at Exit-US Club in Prague, followed
shortly afterwards by a hometown comeback show at Nové Slunce in Nový Jičín. Both performances
proved that BFF still had a loyal fan base and a solid place on the metal scene.
The first months of 2018 were spent settling into a new rehearsal room, and the band gradually
began writing new material, now as a four-piece. The original core remained intact, having played
together, with only short breaks, since 2006: Pablo, Smetak, Dodi and Masters. In February, Masters
suffered a serious leg injury and was sidelined for a long period. The band’s progress stalled. Although
they occasionally managed to rehearse, it was more about staying in touch and keeping the old
material fresh than writing new songs. This difficult period lasted for most of 2018, reaching its peak in
December when Dodi announced his departure from the band, followed shortly afterwards by Pablo.
As a result, 2019 began without any guitarists.
However, finding new members did not take as long as initially expected. After a few weeks, the
band had secured both a bassist and a guitarist. Bassist Zdeněk had previously played with Smetak in
an informal side project in Přerov, while guitarist Jaryn had already spent a brief period in BFF
between 2008 and 2009. The years had brought significant growth for both musicians, and the first
newly written songs quickly confirmed it.
During the first half of 2019, the band completed its first new songs, meaning that the promo
originally planned for 2018 was delayed by a full year in both preparation and execution.
The year 2020 began with Jaryn leaving the band for personal reasons. Once again, uncertainty
followed, along with questions about whether BFF should continue at all. While the band considered
its future direction, a solution appeared relatively quickly. Dodi, who had played bass in BFF for many
years before leaving in 2018, agreed to switch to guitar. He also brought along a young and promising
guitarist, Phill, and by March 2020 the BFF line-up was complete once again.
During the coronavirus period, the band focused on assembling the necessary equipment and
rehearsing its live set. After two months, the line-up was ready to perform, and the first concert took
place on 13 June 2020 at Barrák Club in Ostrava as part of the Darkwind event.
Due to the coronavirus situation, with live music heavily restricted, the years 2020 and 2021 were
devoted primarily to working on material for the third album. Concert opportunities were limited, but the
guitarists succeeded in writing enough material that, in terms of quality, stood comfortably alongside
the band’s previous releases.
The year 2022 began with the band operating at full speed and determined to finally complete the
album. One complication was the departure of Zdena from the bass position by mutual agreement.
Fortunately, the vacancy did not remain open for long. Olby, a long-time friend and occasional
bandmate of Phill, joined the line-up.
The delay caused by the change of bassist was further complicated by serious injuries suffered by
both Olby and, shortly afterwards, Dodi, leaving them sidelined for practically the entire spring. It was
not until May that the band was able to resume rehearsals. In June, BFF performed at Jičínfest with
the new line-up, although Dodi had to play sitting down. His condition was still far from fully recovered,
and further complications followed. Things gradually improved towards the end of the summer,
allowing the band to return to regular rehearsals and begin arranging new concerts. Work on the
album slowly continued.
As if that was not enough, Phill developed health problems in May 2023 that kept him out of action
for almost six months. As a result, rehearsals during this period were very sporadic.
Things finally began to improve in 2024. The band completed the material for its third album, and
in July recording began for Phobophobia at none other than the trusted Shaark Studio in Bzenec.
Work on the album continued, with a few short breaks, until February 2025. The artwork was once
again entrusted to the proven graphic artist Roman Kýbus, while the band photos were taken by Karin
Petrskovská.
The year 2025 was devoted to finalizing the album and preparing the promotional CD. In May
2026, Phobophobia was finally officially released on digital platforms. Prior to that, in December 2025,
the band and bassist Olby mutually agreed to part ways, leaving BFF as a four-piece once again.
