Released via Savant Guarde Records , the album marks a new chapter in the musical journey of one of British space rock’s most distinctive voices. Wanikiya Record/Promotion joins the project as international press office.
October 31, 2026 – The time has come to enter a new sonic dimension. Bridget Wishart, the legendary former singer of Hawkwind, releases “Ekolu” today, her debut solo album, via Savant Guarde Records. The album is initially available as a premium CD edition in a jewel case, with a limited vinyl edition planned for a later release.
A member of Hawkwind between 1989 and 1991, Bridget Wishart made her mark on the history of the celebrated British band, becoming the only woman to serve as its lead vocalist. With “Ekolu,” she opens a new chapter in her artistic journey, exploring a musical universe shaped by space rock, psychedelia, and progressive influences, where cosmic atmospheres, surreal visions, and immersive soundscapes transport listeners beyond the boundaries of everyday reality.
The singles “One by One” and the more recent “No Shadow” have already offered a glimpse into the album’s distinctive character, introducing a work that combines experimentation, imagination, and a strong artistic identity.
Featuring nine tracks, “Ekolu” brings together Bridget Wishart’s unmistakable vocals, lyrics, and EWI (Electronic Wind Instrument), the musical vision of Finnish composer Santtu Laakso, the creative force behind Astral Magic, and the guitar work of Steve Bemand, who has toured with Hawkwind. His distinctive guitar solos add depth, intensity, and further musical dimensions to the album’s sound.
A COSMIC JOURNEY THROUGH MUSIC AND IMAGINATION
“Ekolu” is more than an album: it is an artistic experience built around sound, imagery, and atmosphere. Its visual identity plays a central role in the project. The visual concepts were developed by Daniel Rozell in collaboration with Bridget Wishart herself, while the painted artwork was created by Alan Arthurs, a longtime artist associated with the Hawkwind universe.
The cover artwork takes viewers into an enigmatic world of alien landscapes, ancient Egyptian-inspired statues, mysterious figures, and unsettling encounters. At the heart of this visual narrative stands a figure reminiscent of Bridget Wishart herself, creating a tribute to science fiction imagery, psychedelic culture, and the rich history of space rock.
The artwork reinforces the album’s cinematic atmosphere, transforming “Ekolu” into a project where sound and imagination merge into a unified artistic vision. The album was mastered by Paul Cobbold.
With this release, Bridget Wishart embarks on a new chapter in her career, reaffirming her connection to the visionary sounds that helped shape an important part of British space rock history, while continuing to embrace musical exploration and experimentation.
“Ekolu” is available worldwide from today, October 31, 2026, via Savant Guarde Records.
Wanikiya Record/Promotion is proud to collaborate with Savant Guarde Records on the international promotion of this release, helping bring Bridget Wishart’s new work to the attention of music journalists, media outlets, and fans of psychedelic rock, progressive music, and space rock around the world.
