Dutch-Slovakian deathcore titans DISTANT are set to release their highly anticipated album, Tsukuyomi: The Origin, on November 22, 2024, via Century Media Records. Celebrating the band’s 10th anniversary, this release is more than a simple reissue—it’s an expansion and reimagination of their debut Tsukuyomi EP. Featuring seven new tracks alongside six revamped versions of early songs, the album paints an immersive prequel to their well-known Tyrannotophia saga, offering fans a fresh glimpse into DISTANT’s evolution and storytelling prowess.
Tsukuyomi: The Origin is not just a nostalgic return to their roots but a bold step forward, blending their brutal downtempo deathcore foundation with refined melodic and technical elements. Collaborations with high-profile artists like Matthew K. Heafy (TRIVIUM), Alex Erian (DESPISED ICON), David Simonich (SIGNS OF THE SWARM), and Travis Worland (ENTERPRISE EARTH) further elevate the album’s sonic complexity.
This release dives into DISTANT’s origin story, intertwining their signature ferocity with deeper exploration of the lore surrounding Tyrannotophia. It’s a reflection of how far they’ve come since their 2014 inception, yet it remains rooted in the ethos of unrelenting aggression, proving their ongoing evolution within the deathcore landscape.
The album includes previously released singles, such as the crushing “Loveless Suffering,” the relentless “The Undying,” and the powerful “Fleshweaver.” With their expansive, cinematic approach to deathcore, DISTANT continue to push boundaries while remaining true to their hyper-dissonant, beatdown-infused sound.
Tsukuyomi: The Origin is available for preorder in multiple formats, including Standard CD, Black LP, and limited edition marbled vinyl. Fans can expect this release to solidify DISTANT’s place among modern metal’s innovators and usher in a new era for the band.
