DOOMBIA “Quién Soy Yo” wrestles with questions of identity, faith, and moral accountability

Third single from upcoming album El Diablo Que Conoces is the band’s most complete fusion of doom metal and Latin cumbia yet

Portland’s DOOMBIA — the BIPOC-led, gender-queer band fusing doom metal, psychedelic rock, and Latin cumbia — releases their new single “¿Quien soy yo?” on June 12, 2026. The track is the third single from their forthcoming second album, El Diablo Que Conoces, and represents the most fully realized incarnation of the Doombia concept to date.

“¿Quien soy yo?” (“Who am I?”) is equal parts existential reckoning and dancefloor earthquake. Built on the band’s signature collision of slow, crushing guitar riffs and irresistible cumbia groove, the song cycles through English and Spanish as it wrestles with questions of identity, faith, and moral accountability — music that dares you to both bang your head and shake your hips. It is Doombia at their most Doombia.

Formed in 2023 by Brendan Deiz — a Latin musician who stumbled into doom metal while teaching guitar and never looked back — Doombia has grown into a full band that has toured the West Coast, earned multiple artist grants, and been named one of Willamette Week’s Best of Portland 2024 for their “headbanging, hip-shaking” hybrid sound.

El Diablo Que Conoces was recorded with Justin Phelps (Mars Volta, Dead Kennedys) and mastered by Grammy-winner Alan Douches (Mastodon, Converge). The album expands the band’s vision of heavy music as a unifying, inclusive force — a bilingual, borderless sound drawing equal inspiration from Black Sabbath and Los Mirlos.

“¿Quien soy yo?” is available June 12, 2026 on all streaming platforms.
