Post-punk band FALSE FLOWERS announces the release of their latest two-song single, the follow-up to the band’s self-titled debut mini-LP featuring the original single “Secret Futures” b/w a reimagining of the Adam and the Ants classic song “Beat My Guest”. The physical 7-inch vinyl is available for purchase through Strange Club Records.
The two-song 7-inch was recorded by Patrick Hills at Earthtone (7 Seconds, Tera Melos, King Woman). The lead song, Secret Futures, written by guitarist Brian Hanover, takes inspiration from a feeling of being distracted by insignificant issues that keep us from spending our energy on truly meaningful moments in life.
Lines like, “A witness that follows, wasted and borrowed” suggest a life that isn’t fully lived, like time that has been squandered. The upbeat, intense composition exposes the punk roots of False Flowers, while still maintaining the dark, atmospheric style the band is known for.
Side B introduces a cover of the catchy post-punk song Beat My Guest by Adam and the Ants, recorded in a way that is uniquely and unmistakably False Flowers.
In addition to their second official release, False Flowers are excited to announce their self-produced music video, which launches July 10 via the band’s YouTube channel, in support of the single “Secret Futures”.
The band is already working on a new album, set to come out in 2027, so be sure to keep an eye out for their future release. For now, the band continues to support bands like Home Front, Primitive Heads, MESS, Generacion Suicida, Alter Girl, Guilty Strangers, and more. Plus, future shows include supporting Bleakness and Bloodstains in Sacramento, CA.
“Secret Futures”is available starting July 3 through Strange Club Records (TSOL, The Briefs, Big Boys), and also distributed in the UK through No Front Teeth Records (Sharp Objects, Cute Lepers, Shattered Faith). Additionally, you can purchase a digital version of the “Secret Futures” single on Amazon and iTunes, or listen to it on supported streaming platforms, including Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal, and more.

What happens when four friends with 100 years of musical experience between them get together? FALSE FLOWERS happens. As veterans of the punk scene, this four-piece group loves dark vibes and driving beats, but just can’t quit fast. To hear their music is to cozy up to moody goth, mixed with a punk rock edge.
False Flowers is guitarist Brian Hanover (Hanover Saints, Whiskey Rebels, Union Hearts), drummer Craig Hancock (RAD, Sick Burn), bassist Conrad Melancon (Cold Trap, Mob Rule), and vocalist Lory Gil (RAD, Sick Burn). Individually, they’ve been playing music for nearly three decades.
In February of 2024, when searching for a passion project to lend their creativity to, they joined forces, making a conscious choice to spend a year writing songs and honing their skills to create the style you hear today.
Thanks to deep collaboration amongst every member of the band, a love and passion for the genre they were inspired by, and a trust in each other’s talents, they built the foundation for what you hear today. Since then, they’ve gone into the studio twice and toured multiple runs across Southern California, the Bay Area, and the Pacific Northwest.
Lyrically, False Flowers are inspired by horror movies, loneliness and isolation, lost love, and a little bit of good old-fashioned true crime. Stylistically, they’re known for their dark, atmospheric post-punk and death rock style.
