FLIGHT OF ODIN DISCUSS NEW DOUBLE ALBUM ON THE ZACH MOONSHINE SHOW

Washington, D.C.-Area Doom Metal Band Talks I Traveled The Crooked Path, Old-School Influences, Human Recording And Future Plans

Washington, D.C.-area doom metal outfit FLIGHT OF ODIN recently joined The Zach Moonshine Show on Metal Devastation Radio for an in-depth conversation about their new double album, I Traveled The Crooked Path, their songwriting process, classic metal influences, recording philosophy and plans for the future.

Released through Riding The Dragonfly LTD, I Traveled The Crooked Path brings together material from both the band’s current lineup and an earlier era, including the previously released Goddess In Smoke material.

During the interview, FLIGHT OF ODIN discussed their organic approach to songwriting, with songs developing from guitar riffs, vocal melodies, rehearsal-room jams and spontaneous ideas. Vocalist Xyra also explained how tracks such as “You Can’t Stop Me Now” began with vocal ideas before the full band arrangement took shape.

One of the biggest topics was the band’s commitment to keeping music human. FLIGHT OF ODIN records together in the same room without click tracks, allowing performances to naturally speed up and slow down rather than correcting every imperfection.

The band also discussed their rehearsal space, The Sanctuary, their Washington, D.C.-area underground scene, guitarist Tyler Beddow, and their wide range of influences, including Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, KISS, Scorpions, Chopin and The Velvet Underground.

Looking ahead, FLIGHT OF ODIN is already writing new material, with another studio session planned for November. The band has also discussed the ambitious possibility of creating a doom metal opera incorporating other musicians and theatrical elements.
