A Word from the Band
“I wrote the lyrics to “You Will Be Free” for one reason: to help myself cope with the loss of someone I deeply admired, says lead singer and lyricist Steve Libby. I wasn’t trying to gain attention or make money. I simply had no way to tell Ozzy what his music meant to me.
So many people wish they could have had just a few minutes with him—to say, “Thank you.” To tell him, “Your music saved me.” Or simply, “When I felt like hell, your songs lifted me up.”
Over the years, I’ve talked with countless people about what music means to them. More often than not, their answer is simple: “I just need a break, and music makes me happy again.” My hope is that “You Will Be Free” does that for someone else. If it brings comfort, hope, or simply helps someone through a difficult day, then it has accomplished exactly what we hoped it would.
This song is our tribute to the one and only Ozzy Osbourne. Nothing more, nothing less.
I don’t believe I’m Ozzy, and I would never pretend to possess even a fraction of his talent. Inspired by his musical legacy, created in tribute to his influence, we did our best to honor that influence with the deepest respect.
