J. HENRY “Broadway” Is A Love Letter To Dreamers, Drag Queens, And Anyone Chasing Their Authentic Self

Seattle-based artist J. HENRY announces “Broadway”, a genre-defying new single arriving June 16, 2026 on all streaming platforms. The track is the latest release from his sophomore concept album Everything is Glowing, due later this year.

“Broadway” is built like a three-act play. The first verse opens in full musical-theatre form – bright, theatrical, unmistakably Broadway. The second drops into a pulsing 90’s house anthem. The third lifts into a soaring, church-like choir. Across all three, J. Henry traces the same through-line: the ache of chasing a dream you can barely see, the people trying to keep you small, and the stubborn faith that moves you toward it anyway.

“I wanted the song to become what it’s about,” says J. Henry. “Each verse is a different stage, a different audience, a different version of you stepping into the spotlight. The form mirrors the journey.”

A Love Letter to Julia’s on Broadway

On a closer listen, “Broadway” reveals a second layer – a commentary on the gap between how Broadway performers and drag queens are received, with Julia’s on Broadway, a staple of Seattle’s drag scene, at its center. The song draws a deliberate parallel between two crafts built on the same foundations – performance, transformation, devotion to the work – and the cultural distance in how each is celebrated.

“Drag artists and Broadway performers are doing the same thing at the core,” J. Henry explains. “They’re putting their whole selves on a stage and asking you to believe. One gets standing ovations. The other still has to fight for the right to exist in public. I wanted to honor that and write a song drag performers could feel themselves in.”

About Everything is Glowing

“Broadway” is part of “Everythingis Glowing, J. Henry’s sophomore concept album structured as a hero’s journey. Each track is tied to a specific city written in during a year of global travel following a corporate layoff that became a catalyst for creative liberation. The album traces a path from departure through wandering to an eventual homecoming — both geographic and personal.
