Pacific Northwest pop supergroup, RUB are releasing their new single “City Pop” on July 16th. This track is the band’s first release since they dropped their live album, Live At The Neptune, to kick-off 2026.
Lead vocalist Princella Ray shares, “‘City Pop’ is a song written about wanting to travel to a fictitious “utopian” city. A utopia defined by simply being allowed to just exist in the world and be yourself. One that doesn’t judge, follow, or criticize. ‘City Pop’ is a call out on things that happen everywhere but should happen nowhere.”
“City Pop” will release digitally on Thursday July 16th, 2026.

RUB is a force in the music industry. Formed in 2022, this quartet has quickly made a name for themselves as purveyors of feel-good music with uplifting call-to-action lyrics. Blending synth-pop with rock and soul, RUB’s music is a veritable feast for the ears, complete with heavy vocal harmonies and infectious beats that will get you up and dancing in no time.
Despite their relatively short time together as a band, RUB has already achieved an impressive list of accomplishments. They have played historic Seattle venues and festivals such as Bumbershoot and The Moore Theater for SMASH’s benefit tribute to Sub Pop records, along with helping inaugurate the official Sir Mix-a-Lot Day in Seattle by opening the night’s concert. Their first single, Contentment, became Song of The Day on KEXP, chosen by DJ Cheryl Waters, and they performed live in-studio on KEXP’s Afternoon Show.
The band comprises former and current members of Trick Candles, Bear Axe, Killer Workout, Cute Lepers, and Panama Gold, and their collective experience and talent shines through in every performance. With a sound that is both unique and immediately accessible, RUB is on a mission to reach out and evoke emotion and hip shakes from people from all walks of life.
