Southern Utah rockers Six String Revolver continue pushing their message of freedom, authenticity and human connection with their latest album, Be Somebody.
RavenHawk, frontman of Six String Revolver, recently joined The Zach Moonshine Show for an in-depth conversation covering the band’s history, the stories behind their music, his unconventional path into rock and roll, the importance of physical music, artificial intelligence, and what lies ahead for the band.
Much of Six String Revolver’s music is rooted in RavenHawk’s own experiences. Growing up in a high-control religious environment, he eventually discovered rock and metal through artists including Jim Morrison and Guns N’ Roses. Music became an escape and ultimately a way for him to turn difficult experiences into something meaningful.
That personal approach carries into songs such as “Sick Mind,” which addresses online predators and the dangers facing children, and “Dead Jail Rock’n’Roll,” which draws from a real-life experience. For RavenHawk, songwriting is about speaking for those who may not have a voice.
“I want to hear the passion. I want to hear the message,” RavenHawk explains, emphasizing the importance of real musicianship and human emotion in an increasingly AI-driven music industry. Six String Revolver’s latest record was recorded with the musicians performing the material themselves, with RavenHawk making it clear that there is “No AI on it at all.”
With Be Somebody currently making its way into the world, Six String Revolver is also working on new videos and continuing to move forward despite guitarist Hawkeye Pierce’s ongoing battle with stage 3 cancer.
For RavenHawk, the mission remains simple: create honest music, tell real stories and hopefully give listeners something they can connect with.
“I love expressing myself,” he says. “I love trying to help other people that are in need of a message and a story that they can grab onto, that can inspire them.”
Six String Revolver’s story is still being written. The revolver keeps spinning.
