Progressive metal solo project TAETHEN, the creative vision of Julia Kajanto, has officially unleashed the new full-length album Illusory Sensations, available NOW across streaming and digital platforms.

Following the release of the album’s powerful lead single “Paradise for Fools,” Taethen now presents the complete Illusory Sensations, an ambitious and deeply personal body of work that explores existential uncertainty, psychological conflict, personal transformation, and the darker corners of the human experience.

Created entirely by Julia Kajanto, Taethen exists without creative limitations or a desire to fit neatly into a single genre. Illusory Sensations brings together elements of progressive metal, post-metal, atmospheric sludge metal, and acoustic rock, combining crushing guitar work with expansive textures, dynamic arrangements, cinematic atmosphere, and moments of introspective beauty.

The result is an album that refuses to stay in one place. Each composition evolves organically, shifting between heaviness and atmosphere while maintaining a strong focus on adventurous songwriting and emotional depth.

Kajanto explains:

“Illusory Sensations has been in the works for years, and I’m incredibly excited to finally let it out into the world. It’s an exploration of the human psyche, delving into the darker aspects of existential discovery. It’s full of progressive metal madness, crushing riffage and beautiful soundscapes.”

The album represents a completely self-produced effort, with Kajanto handling songwriting, performances, recording, production, mixing, and mastering. That hands-on approach gives Illusory Sensations a singular identity, with every element shaped by one uncompromising artistic vision.

The previously released single “Paradise for Fools” offers an immediate introduction to the sonic world of the album, balancing towering riffs with immersive atmosphere while establishing the psychological and existential themes that run throughout the record.

With Illusory Sensations now available in its entirety, Taethen invites listeners to step beyond conventional genre boundaries and experience a progressive metal journey built around experimentation, emotion, heaviness, and atmosphere.

ILLUSORY SENSATIONS IS AVAILABLE NOW.
