Costa Rica’s finest metal export Sight of Emptiness has been around since 2005, a dynamic
metal band celebrating their 20th Anniversary in 2025 with a highly anticipated world tour and
the release of their highly anticipated fifth studio album ‘Above the Noise’ in early 2025,
a metal masterpiece produced and mixed by the legendary Thomas Plec Johansson (Opeth,
Mayhem, Soilwork).
Imagine confronting your inner demons in a sonic assault of 9 electrifying tracks. This isn’t your
typical hero story, it’s a journey of self-discovery that will leave you questioning
everything. Ready to witness a metal metamorphosis? Our sound delves deep into the human
psyche, igniting catharsis and connection.
Currently as the reigning #1 metal band in Costa Rica according to Spotify in 2024, as featured
in Nuclear Blast, we are excited to share our music with the world.
As the first band from Central America and Costa Rica to grace the legendary 70000 Tons of
Metal Cruise in 2023 with 2 unforgettable shows @ Star Lounge and the famous
Royal Theater, we have proven our ability to captivate audiences with our intense energy and
emotive music crushing stages worldwide. We have played in Japan alongside Krisiun and
Gorguts, the USA, Spain, Portugal, England, Iceland (the only metal band in the region to date),
Panama, Nicaragua, and Honduras.
Also, Sight of Emptiness was honored to be invited to play at the Grand Opening Week of the
New National Stadium in Costa Rica & the almighty Bloodstock Festival in the UK in
2007 (Main Stage) & 2012 (Sophie Lancaster Stage).
In Costa Rica, we have had the opportunity to be the support band for Black
Sabbath, Slayer, Megadeth (twice), Amon Amarth, Accept, Obituary, At the Gates, Dark
Tranquillity, and Living Sacrifice, among others.
Our fourth album, “Redemption” made a lot of positive noise in specialized and
recognized metal media internationally, even being called a “Death Metal Masterpiece” by the
renowned website MetalSucks.net.
On the other hand, the renowned and most important metal Magazine in
Europe, Metal Hammer UK, rated Redemption with 7 out of 10.
To promote their third album: “Instincts”, the band joined forces with no other than UK
Terrorizer Magazine to distribute exclusively with all subscribers on issue #240 the album.
“Instincts” also featured guest appearances by: Glen Drover (Ex-Megadeth), Christian
Älvestam (Ex-Scar Symmetry), Ralph Santolla (Ex-Deicide), Whitfield Crane (Ugly Kid
Joe), Ole Halvard Sveen(Extol), Manuel Obregón (Costa Rican Minister of Culture).
