MEZMERIZER Releases Debut Album Whispers of Leviathan

The highly anticipated debut album from Danish metal collective Mezmerizer is OUT NOW via Downfall Records!

Whispers of Leviathan marks a milestone for Mezmerizer, blending years of musical evolution into a groundbreaking release. Formed in 2009 as a creative outlet for metal musicians from Odense, Denmark, the band has evolved through collaboration with some of the finest vocalists in Danish metal, including Jonas Viuff (Terrorpy), Esben Elnegaard Hansen (Hatesphere), and Michael Bastholm Dahl (Artillery).

Originally a side project, Mezmerizer quickly grew into a force to be reckoned with, gaining attention with their debut track on a compilation album. After Michael Bastholm Dahl departed Artillery in 2023, the band devoted themselves to perfecting their sound, culminating in the release of Whispers of Leviathan.

The album fuses the intensity of black metal with melodic harmonies, offering a unique listening experience. Speaking about the album, Michael Bastholm Dahl notes:

“The music is composed and recorded by artists who love all kinds of metal… we listen to each riff and try to come up with melodies, harmonies, punchlines, and rhythms that add something interesting to the overall sound.”

Primary composer Flemming Goldberg-Larsen cites Iron Maiden as a lifelong influence, adding:

“I remind myself that a live show can be built around aggressive tunes, epic songs, and crowd-pleasers. I strive to honor the tradition of bands that go the extra mile to give their listeners a memorable experience.”

Whispers of Leviathan also dives deep into societal themes, challenging listeners to reflect on double standards, deception, and hypocrisy. Mezmerizer emphasizes, “Conflicts can often be avoided if we remember that things are seldom as they seem—neither in Denmark nor anywhere else.”
