Michigan’s Grit-Soaked Stoner Metal Trio Rises with Raw Power, Reflection, and a Relentless Road Ahead

Shaped by decades of persistence in the face of adversity, Michigan stoner metal outfit Grave Next Door has broken out of the tomb to claim their place in the national underground. With their second full-length album Sorry No Candy released in October 2024 via Black Doomba Records , the band solidifies its dark, doomy sound from the bar circuit to festival stages—now preparing for a wave of East Coast, Midwest, and Southern U.S. tour dates in 2025 .

Formed in 2018 by brothers Patrick (drums) and Anthony Salerno (guitar/vocals), Grave Next Door takes its name from the cemetery next to their childhood home—a stark yet poetic symbol of the band’s core themes: mortality, addiction, and inner chaos. Their signature sound is a fusion of Black Sabbath , The Melvins , Black Flag , and the soulful psychedelia of Cream and The Moody Blues . The band’s lived experiences—particularly drummer Patrick’s past as a bounty hunter, U.S. Navy deep-sea diver, and recent kidney transplant survivor—bleed through every crushing riff and doom-drenched groove.

After igniting buzz with a series of raw singles in 2019, Grave Next Door built a fiercely loyal fanbase dubbed the Grave Nation , touring relentlessly and performing at key festivals including Maryland Doom Fest (2021, 2022, and its final year in 2025), Appalachian Noise Fest 2025 , Kraken Fest , and the Tennessee Metal Devastation Festival 2022 . Their debut full-length, Sanctified Heathen (2022, Black Doomba), delved into war, addiction, and loss, setting the foundation for the band’s evolving sound.

Their 2024 follow-up, Sorry No Candy , sees the trio pushing further, with label boss Tommy Stewart once again at the production helm. The album delivers tighter arrangements, sharpened dynamics, and an emotional weight that hits harder than ever. Newest member Luke Strand joins on bass, locking in the power trio’s chemistry as they prepare to bring Sorry No Candy to life on the road.
