J’CUUZI says turn off your brain and turn your limited attention to “SLUDGEcontent”

Austin, TX – July, 2025 – Austin based avant-pop syndicate J’CUUZI prepares to birth their first collection of songs, aptly titled “SLUDGEcontent” on July 25, 2025.

Some might call it an EP but SLUDGEcontent is a new comprehensive appetizer sampler listening experience (CASLE).  More akin to a doomscroll-themed playlist than a conventional extended  play, the 5 mid-fidelity tracks of SLUDGEcontent present the  freak punk collective mutating between a distorted blend of sub octave  synths with brittle beats, to glam rock guitar ringing over mischievous  bass melodies. Dynamic, acerbic, and aerobic: turn off your brain and  turn your limited attention to SLUDGEcontent.

The songs of SLUDGEcontent bounce between sardonic musings on the woes of post-capitalist life (“How 2 Get Everything You’ve Always Wanted 4 Free (Forever)”), campy horror-infused tales of haunted vibrators (“Bad Toy”) and serpentine sex workers (“Fame by Death”), J’cuuzi paints the dread of a sudden trip to the mechanic (“Big Machine”) with the hues a Hanna-Barbara cartoon.

“J’cuuzi’s electric performances have surely contributed to their  rapid rise, but their music proves equally captivating. Catchy but  noisy, irreverent but ominous.” – Austin Chronicle

“…irreverent attitude and infectiously catchy lo-fi productions reminiscent of the DIY spirit of early Le Tigre.” – New Noise Magazine

“Austin’s J’cuuzi are about as avant garde as you can get.”– KUTX

Describing J’CUUZI as a band is at the very least  inaccurate, or worse: incorrect. While they do deliver sweaty,  electrifying live performances of high octane songs that modulate  between serrated post punk guitar and pulsing electro beats, there is at  almost every turn some distortion of expectation, some curve, that the  word “band” lacks the range to capture.

The members, of which there are an ambiguous number, wear matching  handmade couture, with bulbous anime-esque proportions and insectile  features built around drag silhouettes. Their stage looks like a cheap  apartment, with a dusty blue egg chair and a single guitar amp on either  side of a bedazzled ironing board. Their performances, imbued with  explosively manic energy and amateur acrobatics, often spill out and  into the crowd. Even the songs themselves pivot between perspectives on a  dime, like two tracks of a similar tempo stitched together by a  particularly opportunistic DJ.

Whether you call them a band, a performing art troupe, or a drag  family; J’cuuzi has set a pace of expansion and experimentation that  proves there’s is an act worth watching. J’cuuzi recently graced the  cover of the Austin Chronicle during SXSW 2025 and are making plans for  world domination.
