Raivo Jackson, the band set to release its debut album in February, has today unveiled a new single, Babes in the Woods. Rooted in traditional music and storytelling, the track leads listeners deep into the forest, guided by guitarist Tommi Tuuri’s smooth, captivating riff. While the band continues along the dark, atmospheric path they call Nordic Noir, this release also carries unexpected hints of light.
Raivo Jackson’s debut album is titled Tangled Up in Roots. The energetic, fast-paced Babes in the Woodsmay reference the English folk tale of the same name, a real-life 1980s Brighton murder case – or simply the feeling of being lost.
In this upbeat, rolling country tune, the narrator confronts the past left behind and realises things may not be as bleak as they once seemed.
“Most of the sweethearts are still alive,” frontman Saska Lammila grins.
The upcoming album’s first single, Fire Song Revisited, was released in November and explored the mindset of a pyromaniac.
