Black Throne Productions is excited to announce the upcoming release of AAWKS’ new album, On Through The Sky Maze, scheduled for release on May 2, 2025. This latest installment in their discography sees AAWKS delving deeper into mystical and occult themes, further evolving their heavy and psychedelic soundscapes.
On Through The Sky Maze is composed of nine tracks that weave a narrative rich in dark imagery and introspective exploration. Songs like “Celestial Magick” and “Death Trip(Naglfar)” mix heavy riffs with lyrical content that explores the conjuring of spirits and demonology, while “Lost Dwellers” and “Sky Maze” transport listeners to otherworldly realms through their potent psych-rock energy.
Newcomer Ryan “GrimePup” Mailman brings a fresh dynamism to AAWKS’ lineup, infusing the tracks with a raw, heavier bass and vocal presence. The album also features notable contributions from guest artists like Ian Ross, whose electrifying solos enhance “The Figure” and “Sky Maze,” and Dan Trickett, whose Hammond organ layers add a haunting depth to “Drifting Upward.”
Recorded at Thread Junction Studios and produced by Jesse Haradine alongside band member Kris Dzierzbicki, the album benefits from a finely-tuned production process. Mastering was split between Noah Mintz at Lacquer Channel and Zack Horvath at Z Hollow Studios, ensuring each track delivers maximum impact.
The artwork for On Through The Sky Maze, created by Deleriavision, visually captures the album’s themes, while Bill Kole’s layout and Tiffany Paradise’s photography further encapsulate the eerie, mystical vibe of the music.
As the release date approaches, AAWKS invites listeners to immerse themselves in a world where the mystical and the musical merge. On Through The Sky Maze promises to be a significant milestone in AAWKS’ journey, showcasing their growth as artists and their willingness to explore the dark and mysterious corners of sound and spirit. This album is not just a collection of songs but a gateway to sonic and lyrical adventures that resonate with the depths of the human experience.

The band’s current lineup features Kris Dzierzbicki on guitar, vocals, and synths; Ryan “Grime Pup” Mailman handling bass and vocals; Roberto Paraíso on guitar, violins, and synths; and Randy Babic on drums. Together, they create a powerful blend of heavy psych, stoner, doom, and fuzz rock, enriched with themes of the occult and mind expansion.
The band made its mark with the release of their debut EP in 2019, followed by their first full-length album Heavy on the Cosmic in 2022 under Black Throne Productions. This album achieved notable success, landing at #2 on the June Doom Charts and finishing #5 on the end-of-year Doom Charts. Their music journey continued with the release of a split EP, The Eastern Scrolls with Aiwass in 2023, and another EP, Luna, in the same year, both receiving acclaim on the Doom Charts.
AAWKS’ ability to weave intricate musical and lyrical tapestries is evident in their discography, which features collaborations with artists like Dan Trickett and visual partnerships that enhance their thematic expressions. Not just confined to studio recordings, AAWKS has impressed on stages across North America, sharing bills with bands like Earthless and Crobot, and performing at prominent festivals such as Lourdfest and the Equinox Festival.
Their creative direction pushes the boundaries of heavy music by focusing on groovy riffs and an enveloping sound rather than sheer technical prowess. Influenced by giants like Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, and Electric Wizard, AAWKS crafts music that pummels listeners with a wall of sound while maintaining a melodious and harmonious core.
As AAWKS continues to evolve, they remain committed to a vision of music that supports and uplifts the community, believing in the power of music to transcend ordinary experience and explore vast, mystical landscapes.
