BIBLIOTEKA awakens the inner dualities of chaos and clarity on “Delusional”

Seattle trio BIBLIOTEKA are excited to share “Delusional”, a new single ahead of their full-length debut scheduled for release in October.

Delusional” was written after band bassist/vocalist Mary Robins took a much-needed trip to Portland, OR, where a day of thrifting ended at Casa Diablo, a vegan strip club that felt more like a fever dream than a night out. The song is a love letter to feminine duality, living in the space between softness and strength, chaos and clarity, insecurity and power. It makes sense because at Casa Diablo, two-dollar bills fly and bodies are celebrated. Like music, strip clubs offer an escape, where fantasy blurs with reality and delusions become their own kind of truth.

Robins shares, ““Delusional” is about a kind of feminine awakening where I was stepping outside of myself and tapped into new desires, or had awoken ancient ones. I took a trip down to Portland and ended up at this wild vegan strip club with friends. The whole place felt like a blur between fantasy and reality where it was intense, emotional, and a little surreal. They only accept two-dollar bills, which felt like the perfect symbol for duality: real and imagined, soft and powerful. That night made me think about how I perform with Biblioteka. People often know me as this quiet and soft-spoken girl. I guess whether you’re on stage or on a pole it becomes its own kind of delusion, but also a kind of inner-truth coming out. That’s my take on sex, drugs, and rock and roll.”

BIBLIOTEKA will release “Delusional” digitally on July 23rd, 2025

“It’s clear from witnessing just one gig that Robins possesses star power; there’s something Cobain-esque about her commanding vocal style, gritty determination, prowling stage demeanor, and sharp features. It wouldn’t at all be surprising if they became Seattle’s next breakout artist.” — The Stranger

“Pretty Ugly showcases [their] signature boisterous rock sound they’ve become reputed for… yet another slice of punchy punk and wistful rock.” — EARMILK

“From her facial expressions to her movement across the stage, it was like a lightning bolt ran through her. Robins’s vocals had a new hard-hitting bite, reminiscent of Kathleen Hanna…” — The Stranger

“[‘Tick Tock’ is] a fun, rocking number with a trippy and trance inducing video to go along with the overall psych mantra of the track.” — Austin Town Hall

BIBLIOTEKA is a loud, sweaty, genre-blurring power trio from Seattle, WA. Their sound is described as a sugar rush of garage rock from a piece of chewing gum you found in the alley of the Seattle underground.

Fronted by the electrifying Mary Robins, whose powerful voice can destroy your demons, the band also features Hexx Rodriguez on guitar (former library rat turned riff machine) and Jules Tennyson on drums (steady fire with a wild streak).

Biblioteka’s live set unfolds like a fever dream. A girl in lipstick, part Kathleen Hanna, all sweet delirium, wrapped in a fuzzed-out haze that makes the chaos feel almost tender. Biblioteka is messy, loud, and a little unhinged. ‘Biblioteka’, meaning “library” in both Ukrainian and Spanish, is fitting since their music cribs from everywhere: punk, pop, grunge, garage, anything that demands to be played at full volume.

Biblioteka came together in late 2018 after Mary met Hexx at a punk show at the now-shuttered Fred Wildlife Refuge in Seattle’s Capitol Hill. Mary had been itching to join a band and told Hexx she played bass, then bought one that night and taught herself to play. It was a move inspired by her Ukrainian mother’s lifelong advice: say yes now, figure it out later. That instinctual boldness shaped her presence on stage and in the writing room. Her lyrics pull from memory and upbringing, adding grit and heart to the band’s sound. Hexx’s sharp melodies clicked instantly with Mary’s raw energy, and just like that, Biblioteka was born. Jules joined the band in 2023 before touring through Mexico, New York, and recording their Live on KEXP In-Studio.

In 2024, they took Europe by storm on a five-week tour, blowing out speakers and minds in clubs and festivals from Berlin to Madrid. With their second full-length album on the way, Biblioteka is tapping into something rawer and louder. Written in the chaotic glow between their Mexico and European tours, these songs were born out of sleepless nights, sweaty clubs, and a DIY ethos.

Biblioteka are:
Mary Robins – vocals, bass
Hexx Rodriguez – guitar
Jules Tennyson – drums
