BIND TORTURE KILL (BTK) is a chaotic hardcore trio from Lyon, France, delivering raw intensity since 2010. Stripping down to a primal lineup of guitar, drums, and vocals, BTK crafts a relentless wall of sound that embodies their namesake: vicious, unforgiving, and visceral. With screamed vocals in French narrating macabre tales of humanity’s darkest acts, BTK explores themes of serial killers, grim violence, and unrelenting brutality, creating a catharsis through noise and storytelling.
Sauvagerie is the third full-length record is a nine-track onslaught that embodies the band’s evolution into a darker, heavier, and more chaotic sound. Recorded at Warmaudio in Décines with Kris Banel and mastered by Nick Zampiello Sauvagerie unleashes a crushing blend of chaotic hardcore, crust, powerviolence, death metal, and sludge. Fueled by the raw aggression this album is a visceral exploration of humanity’s darkest instincts and most violent tendencies. With massive, down-tuned riffs, relentless blast beats, and feral screams, Sauvagerie solidifies BIND TORTURE KILL as a force of primal, unrelenting sound.
Founded in 2010, BTK has continually evolved their sound. Starting as a four-piece blending death metal and mathcore, the band streamlined to a trio, abandoning bass and adopting a unique guitar setup routed through three amplifiers. This approach has become a defining feature of their sound, creating a massive, layered sonic onslaught. From their self-released EP in 2013 to their debut album Condamné (2015) and their sophomore release Viscères (2018), the band has refined their chaotic hardcore identity. With Sauvagerie, BTK ascends to new levels of heaviness and aggression, creating a sound that is simultaneously oppressive and cathartic.
The tracks on Sauvagerie delve into some of humanity’s darkest and most primal fears, with unflinching narratives brought to life through feral screams and punishing instrumentation. “Déchiqueté” vividly describes a horrifying scene of dismemberment and agony, immersing the listener in visceral pain and despair. “Bandaison” paints a chilling portrait of a condemned man’s final moments during a hanging, grotesquely exploring the physiological and psychological extremes of his death.
In “Cul-de-jatte,” the aftermath of a landmine explosion becomes a harrowing tale of survival against impossible odds, with excruciating detail of the victim’s agony and struggle. “Brûlé vif” recounts the unimaginable torment of being dragged, doused in fuel, and set ablaze, transforming into a human torch in an infernal, graphic descent into oblivion.
“Lapidée” examines the brutal spectacle of public stoning, exposing the cruelty and savagery of mob justice as it destroys its victim. Meanwhile, “En tombe” captures the claustrophobic terror of being buried alive, with frantic attempts to claw through earth and wood in a desperate, futile bid for survival.
“Fétide” tells the story of a disfigured individual subjected to society’s inhumanity, paraded as a freak, tortured, and dissected alive, revealing the perverse voyeurism and violence of the masses. “Cadavres” thrusts listeners into the midst of a battlefield filled with mutilated bodies and brutal slaughter, vividly portraying the relentless carnage of war.
The title track, “Sauvagerie,” is a savage tale of a caged lion forced into an arena, its primal instincts unleashed in a final, desperate act before its inevitable demise. Each song plunges into grim, unrelenting narratives that reflect the brutality and savagery of the human condition, creating an overwhelming, visceral experience for the listener.
BIND TORTURE KILL stands as a pillar of modern extreme music, crafting a sound that is both innovative and deeply rooted in hardcore’s rawest traditions. Their live performances amplify the chaos of their records, offering an immersive, cathartic experience for fans of extreme, boundary-pushing music.
