The Brazilian Melodic Death Metal band Erudica is stepping into the most decisive chapter of its career. Originally formed in 2020 in Porto Velho, Rondônia, by vocalist Caroline Ferreira and guitarist Patrik Corrêa, the band is now officially based in Portugal, a move that marks a strategic shift toward the European metal scene and reinforces its growing international presence.
Alongside this relocation, Erudica has announced its first European tour in 2026, with confirmed dates in Portugal, Romania, Hungary and Spain, while simultaneously ushering in a bold new creative phase defined by a renewed lineup, artistic maturity and carefully planned releases.
As part of this new cycle, Erudica officially welcomes Dragos Iulian on bass and Micael Sousa on drums. More than a simple lineup update, the arrival of the new members represents a significant creative surge, already evident in rehearsals, songwriting sessions and preparations for the band’s next steps across European stages.
Reflecting on joining the band, drummer Micael Sousa highlights the immediate connection he felt with the project: “I liked the band’s sound as soon as it was shown to me. When I tried it out, I ended up connecting with everyone in the band. That’s what made me stay. I didn’t think about the future — I thought about the present. It was a project I wanted to be part of.”
With the new formation fully integrated and 2026 plans moving forward, Erudica is actively working on new material. According to Patrik Corrêa, fans can expect a major leap in sound and structure: “This phase represents a huge step forward for Erudica. The new lineup is very cohesive, and that directly impacted the songwriting process. The new material, to be released in early 2026, is some of the strongest, heaviest and most well-structured work we’ve ever done.”
Bassist Dragos Iulian reinforces the ambitious mindset driving the band forward: “What makes me want to keep working with Erudica is the ambition and the inability to think on a lower level. It’s a project that demands courage, chaos and forward motion without pauses — exactly what I need.”
Vocalist Caroline Ferreira emphasizes the symbolic weight of the European tour and the band’s relocation: “Europe has always been a territory we wanted to reach. Being based in Portugal now, and arriving on European stages with a renewed lineup full of energy, makes everything even more meaningful. Dragos and Micael brought new ideas, maturity and a very intense creative exchange. The shows will reflect exactly this moment.”
On February 4, 2026, Erudica releases the single “Resistance Unchained”, the first glimpse of the upcoming full-length album Burnt Imperium. Serving as a manifesto of the band’s current phase, the track explores themes of control, manipulation, alienation and resistance. The lyrics portray individuals conditioned from birth to obey oppressive systems, until the awakening of consciousness — when breaking invisible chains and rejecting false promises becomes a matter of survival.

Fueling what is now the greatest challenge of their trajectory, the European tour is also driven by Erudica’s debut EP Masters of Chaos, a four-track release that has become the cornerstone of this new era. Widely praised by specialized press, the EP stands out for its sonic intensity, technical precision and a lyrical discourse that blends chaos, critique and poetry.

The EP is available on all streaming platforms, while Burnt Imperium is scheduled for release in early 2026 via the international label Kvlt und Kaos Productions. Now operating from Portugal while carrying strong Amazonian and Brazilian roots, Erudica maintains a distinctive aesthetic and an artistic discourse that refuses to slow down. In a scene historically dominated by traditional metal hubs, the band’s rise reinforces that extreme metal from Brazil’s North can resonate globally without sacrificing its identity.
Born from the depths of the Amazon and driven by an unrelenting creative vision, Erudica builds its sound as both a weapon and a warning. Their lyrics confront urgent issues, from environmental devastation to resistance against dehumanizing forces, forging a deep connection with audiences worldwide. More than an individual success story, the band’s trajectory stands as a symbol of excellence, Amazonian identity, and the creative power emerging from the margins.
Erudica is no longer just a promising name in Brazilian metal — it is a statement of persistence, identity, and uncompromising artistic force raising its voice to the world.
