Los Angeles performer and visual artist FAE FATALE‘s latest offering “Voodoo Doll” explores themes of what one will put themselves through blinded by love, admiration, and infatuation.
Written from the perspective of a muse who is being exploited, manipulated, abused, and discarded by the artist when they no longer can obtain inspiration from this muse anymore. Thus, the artist then searches again for their next inspiration, something better and new.
The song’s stunning visualizer takes on the physical personification of the discarded muse. The makeup look drew inspiration from the Margiela runway show by John Galliano, where Pat McGrath created the iconic porcelain doll look for Couture Week and a traditional voodoo doll that has been stabbed with pins. The concept behind the makeup look was to be this doll like character, that in herself was a physical piece of art to this artist who used her as their muse. Singing through coughing up blood was symbolic of the abuse and the muse’s will to stay with the artist despite what they were putting them through.
Speaking about the production, Fae Fatale shares, “The visualizer was originally supposed to be a music video but I had two fractured feet at the time and was in the trenches of some gnarly health issues. Instead of canceling, I strategized and came up with a new idea. I decided to shoot the whole video lying down in alleyways to still convey the message of the song. I had Will come to my home to do my hair, makeup, and SFX from my living room. I was determined to make something for my fans that still felt authentic to me.”
“Voodoo Doll” was produced and co-written with Ryan Davis in Fatale’s home studio and drums were performed by Aaron Stechauner (ex-Rings of Saturn, ex-Born of Osiris, current touring drummer for Sophie Powers, Ellise, Hot Milk, D.R.U.G.S, The Faceless, and Interloper).
Photography and videography for the music video provided by Wayde Crawford (lead guitarist in the band Billy & The Kids).
Makeup artist was Will Covey (known for Halloween Store, Falling in Reverse: Prequel (2024) and Kiss Me Before I Die, My Soldier (2025)).
Chephrena Mbouombouo is the creative visionary behind the Voodoo Doll stop motion lyric video. Known for directing, writing and editing AMARANTHINE (2018), the short has been selected for five film festivals and has won “Best Student Director” at the Aphrodite Film Awards and “Honorable Mention for Editing” at Top Shorts. Mbouombouo has been garnering positive attention across social media platforms for her stop motion animations, including Chappell Roan’s animation for the song “The Giver“.
Sharing her thoughts on the stop-motion animation for “Voodoo Doll”, Mbouombouo states, “When Fae asked me if I was interested in making a stop motion lyric video for Voodoo Doll I couldn’t say yes fast enough! I was so excited to do it. She sent me an excerpt from Coraline and immediately I knew the kind of creative direction I wanted to go in. The lyrics are so dark and powerful and I did want to express that within the stop motion without going too graphic. I wanted it to feel like a twisted doll maker’s workstation so I made a paper doll and a voodoo doll that were toyed with and destroyed by the doll maker in the ways the lyrics described. The thematics and props I made were very different from the more cute and colorful things I was used to making but such a fun and amazing challenge to make something with an element of horror.”

FAE FATALE is a Los Angeles based independent artist, creating music and visuals that thrive where beauty and darkness collide. Drawing from nu-metal, industrial, and alternative rock, her songs fuse raw heaviness with her powerful vocal style.
Deeply inspired by cinematic horror, she is as much a visual storyteller as she is a musician. Fae Fatale writes and directs her own macabre visual projects, building immersive worlds that reflect the raw emotions behind her songs. Her work often explores themes of mental health and the hidden corners of the human psyche, turning these darker topics into her immersive works that she describes as dark fairytale-like worlds.
Since her debut single Lobotomy (August 2024), Fae Fatale has been steadily building a devoted, cult-like following. With her genre-defying sound, evocative lyricism, and uncompromising creative vision, she continues to emerge as a compelling new voice at the intersection of rock, metal, and visual art.
