“Let Me Know” from Kansas City, MO rockers GBD is an energetic song written from the point of view of a bowl of mac and cheese in the microwave. The climax of heat that turns into a melting point is an analogy of what it feels like in these crazy and uncertain times. The track embodies the feeling of pacing in circles, building hyperbolic tension, ultimately culminating in psychological anxiety and physical stress. This song is wholely relatable and relevant when compared to the dynamic ebbs and crests of the ever shifting world climate we find ourselves navigating today.
Bold lyrical narratives like “Are you gonna come to my show?” directly references the “bread and circus” experienced by millions via contemporary news outlets and the media at large, fully propogating their propaganda nightly.
Speaking upon the lyric “When is it really time to go?”, the bands vocalist Kayla Thansui shares, “It’s in reference to leaving in both the metaphorical and literal sense. When is it time to not participate? When is it time to change the system? We want to embolden, connect and build community with our audience. We are in this together!”
“Let Me Know” will see digital release on July 11th, 2025 and also available on a limited edition 7″ platter courtesy of the band at their live events.
GBD initially formed in 2019 by founding members Jesse Dummermuth, David Walker and David Lassman. The onset of the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent quarantining made it incredibly difficult to perform let alone rehearse. Once shows picked back up in the latter part of 2021, the founding trio focused on writing and recording dynamic and diverse instrumental songs with epically spooky vibes.
Kayla (aka Thansui) joined in 2024 as the vocalist and frontwoman, immediately adding powerfully inspired vocal lines and amplifying the band’s sound to a colossal magnitude. GBD have since evolved into a tightly knit group performing often in their hometown of Kansas City, MO.
The group has shared stage with Kissy Fit, Violets Are Blue, River Mouth and the Ravines, Phasers To Kill, Fenwa Teryan, Beneather, Edensphere, Oh Dear Oh My, Taka Gold, Our Lives Yesterday, Tea Leaf, Timothy Lee, OxyToxin, Sour Apple Surgery, Streetlevel Uprising and many more. With regional touring and new music releases on the horizon, GBD are rapidly becoming a force of nature in the underground scene.
GBD are currently recording their full length debut album and continuing to book regional live events into late 2025.
