BLAX – Interview on Certesia
“Certesia” feels more like a ritual than just an album. How was this concept
born, and what does the word “Certesia” mean to you?
The idea of Certesia came from the need to explore the fragility beneath structure —
both in ourselves and in the world around us. The name is invented, but it merges two
real words: certainty and courtesy. These are things society teaches us to hold onto —
control, manners, grace — but beneath them, there’s often chaos, fear, or
grief. Certesia is the mask we all wear, and the moment we decide to tear it off. It’s a
ritual of exposure, where elegance meets collapse.
BLAX – MR GRACEFUL
What was the biggest risk you took while creating this record?
Letting our guard down. With Meravilia, we built something intricate, theatrical, and well-
framed — the foundation of the BLAX myth. But Certesia demanded a different
language. We allowed more silence, more dissonance, more instability. The risk was
emotional: not hiding behind concept, but bleeding into the songs. Sonically, that meant
taking away some polish and letting moments breathe — or break.

Many lyrics feel almost clinical, like a diagnosis, but written with poetic depth.
Where do you draw inspiration for this dark yet truthful writing style?
It comes from observation — of ourselves, of others, of how people break in private.
We’re fascinated by contradiction: love that becomes decay, beauty that hides violence,
tenderness that comes too late. The writing blends confessional intensity with analytical
distance — like documenting a wound while it’s still bleeding. Influences come from
literature and real-life discomfort. We write the things we often avoid saying aloud.
BLAX – SHADY LIFE
If someone listens to the album for the first time, what would you want them to
feel by the end?
A mix of catharsis and recognition. Like they were invited into something intimate and
uncomfortable — but also familiar. We want listeners to feel disarmed, even a little
haunted, but understood. Maybe they’ll recognize something in themselves they weren’t
expecting. And that’s the moment Certesia becomes a mirror, not just an album.
How important is theatricality for BLAX? Is it something you embed in the
songwriting process or does it come alive only on stage?
It’s embedded from the first breath. Every song starts with a scene, a character, a room.
We see the drama before we play the first note. The stage brings it to life, but the
theatrical instinct is in the structure of the music, the lyrics, the silences. It’s not about
acting — it’s about expressing something bigger than words. That’s where ritual begins.
BLAX – OUR BRAIN CONDITIONS
If you had to describe Certesia with a single image or a movie scene, what
would it be?
A person standing in front of a mirror, staring into their own eyes — and realizing they
don’t recognize who they’ve become. But instead of fear, they smile… because they’ve
finally accepted the truth. That’s Certesia: disorientation followed by acceptance,
darkness followed by a strange peace.
There is a sense of ritual in your live shows. What role does the audience play
in this ritual?
They are essential. We never play to the audience — we play with them. Their energy
feeds ours, and vice versa. Each show is a ritual we all participate in — and if the crowd
doesn’t step inside the world with us, the magic doesn’t happen. It’s not a performance,
it’s a shared possession.
Which is your favorite song to perform live from the new album, and why?
“Doctor Love” is the most theatrical moment of the set — seductive, unstable, and
charged with tension. It shifts mood constantly: one moment it’s a slow descent, the next
it explodes into pure chaos. Performing it live feels like stepping into a twisted cabaret —
charming, violent, and oddly intimate. It lets us fully inhabit the strange, alluring spirit
of Certesia. Every time we play it, the room changes.
After Certesia, what new territories do you want to explore musically or
aesthetically?
We’re interested in more minimalism — but also more intensity. Paradoxically,
sometimes silence can be heavier than noise. We’re also exploring cinematic elements,
narrative fragments, even different formats. The aesthetic might shift, but the essence
will remain: raw emotion, conceptual depth, and visual immersion.
What can we expect from your upcoming live shows? New stage concepts,
visuals, or experiences?
Absolutely. We’re already building a new stage concept to reflect Certesia’s themes —
more ritualistic, more intimate, more unsettling. Expect changes in costume, lighting, and
storytelling. New visuals will pull the audience even deeper into the world of BLAX. It’s
not just a concert — it’s a doorway.
