Exploring the quiet pain of living a life shaped by obligation rather than desire, “Dissonance” is the latest single from LA trio MOONFUZZ. Reflecting the frustration of sacrificing identity and potential to meet societal expectations, the new track intentionally raises the question, “why exist within boundaries that leave us unfulfilled and disconnected from who we could become?”
At its core is a longing for freedom: the freedom to create, to experience, and to pursue meaning without risking basic stability. Many of us trade our time and energy to simply get by, leaving little room for creativity or self-discovery. Daydreaming becomes an escape and not because those dreams are impossible, but because the cost of pursuing them can feel unbearable.
The lyric “slow is the death of compromise” serves as both a statement and a warning. We begin life with limitless potential, yet over time that light can dim under pressure, routine, and expectation. The song questions whether the prison is society itself, or the fears we internalize along the way.
Sharing their thoughts on the new track, the band states, “Ultimately, it’s a meditation on purpose, exhaustion, and the human tendency to overthink. It’s a search for meaning in a world that often asks us to settle. The track itself lived many different lives before reaching its final form. As we explored new genres, we intentionally pushed our sound in a heavier direction. Each riff was written at a different moment in time, drawing inspiration from different moments in our lives, which helped shape its layers and gives “Dissonance” its one of a kind character.”
“Dissonance” will release digitally on Thursday, March 12th, 2026.
MOONFUZZ are:
Miranda Viramontes- guitar
Brandi Estrada – drums
Heaven Martinez – vocals, bass
MOONFUZZ was born in 2016 from the depths of Whittier, California. Founding members Miranda Viramontes and Brandi Estrada met in high school, when Viramontes approached Estrada to form a band, and the rest is history. Heaven Martinez joined the band in the fall of 2018, completing the perfect balance of MoonFuzz’s chemistry. With a shared love for the vintage sounds of the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s universe of heavy rock and roll, the trio naturally creates a unique blend of hard rock and proto-metal with a progressive touch.
Viramontes screeches on the guitar with daring chord progressions and aggressive solos while Estrada drives the nails into the percussive framework, pounding out the rhythm of her heart with carefully articulated beats. Martinez deftly weaves hypnotically melodic bass lines in contrast to her haunted vocals, a pairing conjured straight from the soul.
Through divine intervention, the three members came together in perfect alignment to follow their rock dreams and achieve new sounds as of yet unheard, while redefining what it means to be powerfully adept women in rock. MoonFuzz is committed to constantly pushing boundaries in their writing and performances, continually striving to create music better than their previous release, and to perpetually raise the bar above and beyond every previous performance.
All in the name of rock and roll.
