“Awesome” by Delta High
Release Date: February 28, 2025
Opening and title track AWESOME rolls in with the Waves to give the listeners that surf sea and summer fun feeling.
Track 2 is CRUISING THE STRIP, an ode to Blondie with its driving bass and synth alongside the harmonic tones of lead singer Charlotte accompanied by some funky brass licks.
Track 3 NIGHT TIME delves into the world of 80’s Ska delivering three and a half minutes of foot tapping thigh slappin’ fun.
Track 4 sees the first curveball, HERE COMES JOHNNY sung by Alex Asher, is a reflection of the film The Shining and all its unsettling imagery. Don’t leave an Axe outside the bathroom door.
Track 5 is the first sung by Stacy Collins. CHERRY TREE and the second curveball which puts you in a magical spell in a fantasy land recalling memories of the songwriter growing up in Billericay, England as a kid.
Track 6 is the first of three sung by Damien Ives. CHERRY BAY is reminiscent of The Love God album with its Indie pop Housemartins vibe.
Track 7 PUT YOUR JEANS ON, has a touch of Weezer with its heavy singalong Chorus and grunge around the edges.
Track 8 , keeping up the heavy momentum TRIFFIDS is an unapologetically hard driven delve into the lives during a period where giant plants roamed the planet.
Track 9 was written 10 years ago and has chosen to surface on the Awesome album. BLUEBELL WOOD is a phased pathway into the singer’s memories of yesteryear with all its traps and tribulations.
Track 10 MOUNTAIN ROAD sees vocalists and Label friend Browno make his debut on a Delta Song. Think of driving high up in the Mountains with all its creatures and habitat.
Track 11. THE ANTHILL MOB A twist on the Cartoon Whacky Races when the show gets entangled with the Mafia.
Track 12. CARIBBEAN, a follow up to Sunshine Girl with its feel good, Tropical vibe lifted by the excellent Brass arrangement by Dave Land.
Track 13, ROMANTIC VIEW with echoes of Burt Bacharach see Delta sitting on Cromer Pier watching the world go by. It also captures The Carpenters’ chilled beauty and solitude.
AWESOME reflects the fun and energy of the mountains, the sea and a vision of fantasy on days gone by. With its twists and turns, no listener will be left thinking they’ve heard it all before.
