Denver crossover-thrash veterans CLUSTERFUX are back with a vengeance! Their highly anticipated album, Defy, released on October 11 via Beer City Records, has received a glowing review from New Noise Magazine, calling it a “pulverizing, ass-whooping” record that delivers intense, skull-fracturing crossover punk/hardcore thrash.
Founded in 1995, CLUSTERFUX has built a strong reputation in the hardcore punk scene, sharing the stage with legends like D.R.I., Exploited, Napalm Death, Agnostic Front, and more. The expectations were high for Defy, and according to New Noise Magazine, the band more than delivered with 14 tracks of relentless energy and attitude.
New Noise Magazine describes the album as “crossover that leans more toward the punk/hardcore side of music than metal,” packed with an unapologetic swagger reminiscent of early D.R.I. and Final Conflict. Tracks like “Bomb Blast Anthrax Gas Attack” and “With Intent” deliver crushing intensity, while “Letters” offers a hardcore punk blast that will leave fans of the genre craving more.
The review praises Defy as a declaration of CLUSTERFUX’s current strength, stating, “This isn’t a band resting on their laurels; this is a band making a declaration of who they are now.” With the album already being hailed as the best crossover punk/hardcore/thrash release of the year, Defy is set to shake up the scene in a major way.
