Puerto Rican Prog Metallers Tap Into Their Extreme Metal Side on New Track “The Obelisk” From Upcoming EP

Puerto Rican trio Ender announces their upcoming EP, Ender II: In Silent Throne, scheduled for 20 February 2026 via Praetorian Records. As the first preview from the EP, the San Juan group is now streaming “The Obelisk,” a track that deviates from their progressive doom foundation by embracing a sharper, tech-death-leaning intensity. Exploring themes of sorrow, defiance, and personal struggle, the EP represents not only their growth as musicians but also their commitment to pushing the boundaries of progressive doom and giving back to the metal scene that continues to inspire them.

Of the track, Ender states:
“‘The Obelisk’ is a song about the collapse of faith, confronting what happens when something once sacred becomes corrupted. It reflects the tension between devotion and disillusionment, a theme that runs through the core of our forthcoming EP, ‘In Silent Throne.’ Musically, it captures who Ender is at this moment: heavy, emotional, and unafraid to explore darkness through sound. This track marks the first step into the atmosphere and intensity that define the new era of the band.”

Ender II: In Silent Throne EP Cover

Ender is a progressive doom metal band from Puerto Rico, formed in 2021 by three longtime friends with over two decades of experience in the heavy music scene. The band combines massive riffs, emotional depth, and dynamic songwriting to create music that’s both powerful and honest. Their debut single “Lamplighter” introduced Ender’s signature sound—dark, heavy, and atmospheric—helping them earn recognition within Puerto Rico’s growing metal community. Released in December 2023, the debut EP with the same title, is an atmospheric exploration of history, intrigue, and human complexity through powerful progressive doom metal.

Their upcoming EP, Ender II: In Silent, captures the band at their strongest and most focused. Through songs like “The Obelisk,” “Veil the Sun,” and “Unto Silence,” Ender explores themes of sorrow, defiance, and personal struggle.

Ender will perform this December at the Metal & Hardcore Festival in Puerto Rico, where they will debut their new single “The Obelisk”  live. Alongside the live performance, the band will launch a pre-sale campaign on Bandcamp and host a CD Release Party in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
