Το “Certesia” των Ιταλών goth rockers BLAX είναι ένας δίσκος που δεν κρύβεται πίσω από την αισθητική του. Τη χρησιμοποιεί ως όχημα για να στήσει έναν σκοτεινό, σχεδόν θεατρικό μικρόκοσμο. Αν το πρώτο τους άλμπουμ, Meravilia, ήταν μια εφηβική επίδειξη δύναμης, εδώ έχουμε μια πιο σίγουρη, πιο ώριμη μπάντα που ξέρει τι θέλει να πει και πώς να το ψιθυρίσει με τον σωστό ανατριχιαστικό τρόπο.
Από την πρώτη κιόλας ακρόαση, η παραγωγή προδίδει τον στόχο: το reverb είναι σπηλαιώδες, οι κιθάρες είναι σαν μαύρη κουρτίνα που πέφτει γύρω σου, ενώ η φωνή — μισή lament, μισή ritual chant — σε τραβάει μέσα, είτε θέλεις είτε όχι. Το αποτέλεσμα είναι περισσότερο βίωμα παρά ακρόαση, σαν να περπατάς σε έρημο καθεδρικό όπου κάθε βήμα σου ηχεί με απειλή.
BLAX – MR GRACEFUL
Το “Mr Graceful” είναι το πιο άμεσο goth metal κομμάτι τους μέχρι σήμερα, σχεδόν ραδιοφωνικό, χωρίς όμως να χάνει το BLAX στοιχείο: μια ελεγχόμενη παράνοια που σιγοβράζει κάτω από μια φαινομενικά απλή δομή. Το “Philophobia” πάλι, είναι καθαρό σκοτάδι. Ένα κομμάτι για τον φόβο της αγάπης που χτίζεται αργά, με σταγόνες από industrial ρυθμούς και νεκρικό synth, ώσπου καταρρέει σε μια σιωπή πιο βαριά από τον θόρυβο.
BLAX – SHADY LIFE
Εδώ οι BLAX αποκαλύπτουν την αληθινή τους δύναμη. Οι στίχοι είναι σχεδόν κλινικοί στις περιγραφές, αλλά γραμμένοι με λυρισμό που θυμίζει μακάβρια ποίηση. Δεν ανακυκλώνουν goth clichés περί δακρύων και δαιμόνων· μιλούν για υπαρξιακή φθορά, έλλειψη, φόβο, χωρίς να ζητούν λύτρωση. Αυτό δίνει μια παράξενη αίσθηση τιμιότητας.
Ωστόσο, το Certesia έχει και αδυναμίες. Κάποιες συνθέσεις μοιάζουν πιο concept-driven παρά music-driven, με αποτέλεσμα η ατμόσφαιρα να καταπίνει τη μελωδία. Είναι ένας δίσκος που απαιτεί συγκέντρωση, ίσως υπερβολική για casual ακροατές. Αλλά αυτό ίσως είναι και το point: οι BLAX δε γράφουν για το ραδιόφωνο, γράφουν για το ιερό goth family που θα τους δει live και θα νιώσει μέρος του τελετουργικού.
BLAX – OUR BRAIN CONDITIONS
Το “Certesia” δεν είναι το goth metal άλμπουμ που θα φέρει επανάσταση. Είναι όμως το άλμπουμ που εδραιώνει τους BLAX ως μια μπάντα με όραμα, θεατρικότητα και συνέπεια στη σκοτεινή τους αισθητική. Ένα album που ακούγεται καλύτερα με ακουστικά, νύχτα, με μάτια κλειστά, έτοιμος να δεχτείς τον κόσμο που στήνουν γύρω σου.

BLAX project started in March 2020 during the covid-19 shutdown when our singer and songwriter Giampaolo Polidoro (Blax), started to collaborate with our guitarist Marco Fanella (Hektor) for the recording of the first demo tape.
They worked together for the following six months at the “Ravel 5 Studios” arranging and producing the music which later became their first album “Meravilia” recorded and produced at the same studio during 2021.
The BLAX project became a family in 2022 when the drummer Massimiliano Bergo (Argex), the bass player Giulia Balestrieri (Katla), and the guitarist Emil Dellantonio (Hexen) joined the band.
The same year BLAX signs a contract with “AlphaOmega” and In October 2022 the 10 songs album “Meravilia” is released.
On march 2023 BLAX signed with Angels PR agency from Greece and started working to plan live shows for the near future. Angels PR made possible the debut live at Masters of Rock 2023 Second Stage at Vizovice (Czech Republic). Later on, BLAX played a 5-date mini tour in Bulgaria on September 2023 supporting the headliner ARALLU.
During 2023 several live shows were performed in Greece, Italy and London (UK) and at the same time the pre-production for the new album started. In February 2024 BLAX enters once again in the studio for the recordings of the new songs.
The live activity supporting the first album “Meravilia” is not over and in July and August 2024 BLAX take part in three important festivals in Czech Republic: Master of Rock – Main Stage, Ostrava v Plamenech and Rock Castle. The latest show in Rock Castle on August 17th marks the end of the one year “Meravilia” tour. During the summer of 2024 Massimiliano Bergo left the band for personal reasons and a new drummer Luca Urbinati (ANON) joined the BLAX family. Anon played on the last two shows of the “Meravilia” tour in Czech Republic.
Until the April of 2025, Blax played in two tours, with Warrior Soul in Italy, and in Certesia European Tour 2025 with Shadow Rebels and other bands in Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Hungary.
On 25th , April 2025 they released their new album “Certesia” by Wormholedeath Records.
