Pravus Embrace Vulnerability on Haunting New Single ‘When The Autumn Comes’

Brazil’s emerging progressive metal force Pravus have returned with their most daring statement to date: the brand-new single “When The Autumn Comes”Following the momentum of their previous single Ignis”—which quickly surpassed 1,000 streams in its first week—the release offers a striking glimpse into the band’s forthcoming full-length debut, slated for late 2025.

Formed in São Paulo at the height of the pandemic in 2020, Pravus began as a collective of teenage musicians (then just 17 to 20 years old) and rapidly carved out a reputation for bold songwriting and emotional depth. Their 2023 debut EP Cor Hominis Pravum pushed boundaries, highlighted by a fearless reinterpretation of King Crimson’s “Starless.

Now, as the band enters a new creative cycle, Pravus dive even deeper into existential and introspective themes. Their sound is a fluid hybrid—progressive metal in essence, but infused with atmospheric textures, avant-garde sensibilities, and emotional vulnerability. Fans of Opeth, Gojira, Mastodon, VOLA, Leprous, and Porcupine Tree will find familiar touchstones, but Pravus refuse to be confined by genre orthodoxy.

Described by the group as an “experimental metal piece,” “When The Autumn Comes” contrasts sharply with its predecessor. Where “Ignis” raged with punishment and conviction, the new single embraces fragility, reflection, and doubt. Lyrically, it explores the collapse of a long-term relationship—the turmoil of clinging to dysfunctional familiarity versus surrendering to the uncertain freedom beyond. Musically, it unfolds through expansive, ethereal passages that stretch the band’s sonic vocabulary, yet remain anchored in weight and intensity.

Unlike many metal acts that lean heavily on aggression or nihilism, Pravus have set themselves apart by tackling themes of regret, longing, guilt, and identity crises. Their songs resonate as honest meditations on the human condition, painting an intimate portrait of the eternal struggle for inner peace.

“When The Autumn Comes” is out now worldwide across all major streaming services.

With their debut album in progress, Pravus are also preparing to bring their evolving sound back to the stage. The band’s current formation unites Guilherme Costa (guitar/vocals), Duemd (bass/vocals), Danilo Baldon (guitar), JP Surian (drums), and André Farsky (keyboards), blending technical skill with an unmistakable emotional drive.
