BIBLIOTEKA‘s new single “Firestarter” is a rebellious pressure valve for a world on the brink. Angry, defiant, and unapologetically loud, the song channels the visceral feeling of being pushed past your limit and choosing to burn instead of break. Anchored by the chorus “Why you got me so heated, I’m on fire, Leave me untreated, Keep on burning my firestarter,” it captures the moment when self-control disappears and rage becomes fuel.
Written against the backdrop of a world spiraling into fear, “Firestarter” reflects the rise of systemic hostility, the constant threat of violence, and the sheer exhaustion of existing as a marginalized person. It’s about living with the raw awareness that simply being who you are can make you a target, and the fury that comes with being told to “stay calm or shut up” while everything around you is clearly on fire.
The song also confronts modern escapism. We’re drowning in distractions like alcohol, drugs, vapes, and endless scrolling with anything to mute the weight of it all. Our phones act as an accelerant, bombarding us non-stop with violence, outrage, and despair. Social media rots our brains while keeping us locked into the chaos, feeding the fear we’re desperately trying to escape.
Sharing her thoughts about the core theme of the track, vocalist Mary Robins states, “Firestarter is an anthem for refusing to stay calm and complicit while the world is burning.”
Turning rage into fuel in a world that demands compliance, “Firestarter” is about being consumed, perpetually overstimulated, and absolutely furious, and refusing to be pacified. In a time that demands silence and compliance, the song chooses heat, noise, and rebellion, letting the fire rage unchecked.
“Firestarter” is the second single off of Biblioteka’s upcoming LP Matryoshka (out February 12th)on brand new Seattle record label Pet Wussy Records. The album will be available in orange opaque vinyl for its release!
