FALSE FLOWERS “S/T” a hypnotic web spun from the darkened abyss

Sacramento post-punks FALSE FLOWERS are excited to announce the release of their self-titled debut album, available on 12″ vinyl and limited-run cassette starting October 3rd, 2025 from Strange Club Records.

The groups inaugural release features five original tracks, featuring interwoven elements of post punk, dark wave, traditional goth, and death rock into a hypnotic web spun from the darkened abyss of their seductive sound and collective imaginations.

Stylistically FALSE FLOWERS musical offerings beguile you with the enchantingly darkened atmospheres of stark post-punk and bleak dark wave, while the groups lyrics themes are inspired by true crime situations, horrific cinematic masterpieces, and the existential despair brought on by the loneliness of isolation.

Lead single “Chatham Rules” is inspired by the Chatham House Rule, which is widely criticized for it’s tenants of allowing the wealthy aristocracy to secretly and anonymously influence the outcomes of public policies. “Smoke and mirrors disguised in code, wishing you had never known,” speaks to the secret planning that goes on behind closed doors and whether to expose the ones in control or simply accept the apocalyptic outcome decided by others.

A love song of sorts, “Cold Stares” faces the realities of drifting apart in relationships and trying to find your way back together again. The line “write your name in silver pen, keep seeing your face again,” evokes a sense of longing to return to the way things were when you first met.

“Unsafe Numbers” is about creating art and then having that art stolen from you by a company that claims it as its own property and profits from your hard work.

Inspired by horror movies, “Another Lullaby” touches on what happens when a teenage prank goes wrong and someone dies (or so they thought). “And when you learn to feel my pain, you’ll know the sorrow of my soul,” will send shivers down your spine.

“What is “Dorothea Puente’s Ghost” about?”, asks many FALSE FLOWERS fans. While it’s somewhat apparent from the title, this isn’t celebrating a serial killer. The central theme of the track is a subtle reminder of what often happens when we stop caring for the elderly and infirmed. Pondering thoughts of, “Who haunts the haunted? Who stops the undaunted? Who wants the unwanted?”, the spirit of the track is sure to frighten even those who have passed before us.

In addition to the album’s release, FALSE FLOWERS are over the moon with eager anticipation to reveal their self-produced music video in support of their single “Chatham Rules”, which will launch on  October 3rd, 2025 via the bands YouTube channel to celebrate their album release.

What happens when four friends with 100 years of collective musical experience between them get together? FALSE FLOWERS happen.  As veterans of the underground punk scene, this quartet loves dark vibes and driving beats, but just can’t quit fast. To hear their music is to cozy up to moody goth, mixed with a punk rock edge.

FALSE FLOWERS members include Craig Hancock (drummer of RAD, Sick Burn), Conrad Melancon (Cold Trap, Mob Rule), Lory Gil (singer for RAD and Sick Burn), and Brian Hanover (known for his guitar and vocal prowess in Hanover Saints, Whiskey Rebels, Union Hearts and many more). Individually, they’ve been playing music for nearly three decades.

In February of 2024 (when they were searching for a passion project to lend their creativity to) they joined forces to form a new group.  Making a conscious choice to spend a year writing songs and honing their craft as a tightly-knit dark music machine, the band worked diligently to develop the sound of FALSE FLOWERS.

FALSE FLOWERS released their first track “Winter of Void” on the “Secret Futures – A Strange Club Records Vinyl Compilation” available at: https://revinkmerch.bigcartel.com/product/secret-futures-a-strange-club-records-vinyl-compilation

Invoking alluring transcerebral beauty while projecting monolithic shadow visions from the stage, the group has recently supported bands like Generacion Suicida, Ronnie Stone, Altar Girl, Guilty Strangers, and Before Dawn.

FALSE FLOWERS are hitting the road on a run of shows throughout California in November, with label mates Primitive Heads (featuring members of Swingin’ Utters and toyGuitar).
