Finnish Hard Rock / Metal Outfit Officially Unleashes 10-Track Album Built on Decades of Experience and a Return to Their Heavy Roots
HELSINKI, FINLAND | OCTOBER 16, 2026 | The wait is over. Finnish hard rock and metal outfit PlusMinusZero have officially released their debut full-length album, Illusions of Life, available now via Downfall Records.
Formed in Helsinki in 2025, PlusMinusZero may be a new name on the metal scene, but the musicians behind the band bring a history that reaches back decades.
Illusions of Life delivers 10 tracks of melodic hard rock and metal, combining catchy songwriting, driving instrumentation, strong melodies, and the experience of musicians who have spent years recording, touring, and performing throughout Finland.

A NEW BAND WITH DEEP ROOTS
The story behind PlusMinusZero began long before the band officially formed.
In the early 2000s, the musicians were already making music together, releasing three full-length albums with a previous band and touring steadily across Finland. Their experience took them from small bars and clubs to some of the biggest festivals of the era, while radio airplay and television appearances helped bring their music to an even wider audience.
That chapter came to an end around 2005 when the lineup disbanded.
The music, however, never stopped.
Guitarist Dr. Sundström and bassist Iledelay continued playing together, exploring different musical styles and working with various lineups. In 2010, they released another full-length album with a new band, with the lead single from that Finnish-language release receiving attention on television.
Over the years, projects changed and lineups evolved, but the core desire to create music remained.
Eventually, Dr. Sundström and Iledelay began looking back toward the music that had inspired them in the first place.
Heavy music.
Metal.
METAL WAS, AND STILL IS, THE ANSWER
The musical direction increasingly returned to the classic heavy music that had shaped them during their youth.
Iron Maiden. Black Sabbath. Dio. Helloween. Scorpions.
The bands that once dominated record collections and appeared on the back patches of denim jackets became the signposts for a new chapter.
“Metal was, and still is, the answer.”
In the summer of 2025, PlusMinusZero consisted of Dr. Sundström, Iledelay, and little more than a name.
That changed when vocalist Pete and drummer Janne joined the project. Both musicians were already familiar to the founding duo through previous projects, making the transition into a new musical adventure a natural fit.
By the fall of 2025, the lineup was complete.
Since then, PlusMinusZero have independently recorded and mixed their material, bringing together decades of experience with a renewed passion for hard rock and metal.
The result is Illusions of Life.
ILLUSIONS OF LIFE OUT NOW
The album features 10 tracks that showcase PlusMinusZero’s approach to melodic hard rock and metal, including the previously released singles “Runner’s High,” “Wasted,” and “Tears of Fire.”

With Illusions of Life, PlusMinusZero aren’t simply looking backward.
They are taking everything they’ve learned through years of recording, touring, experimenting, and playing live and using it as the foundation for a new beginning.
These are musicians who have already experienced the grind of the road, the excitement of festival stages, the pressure of recording albums, and the simple satisfaction of turning up an amplifier and playing heavy music with friends.
Now they’re doing it again.
Only this time, they’re doing it as PlusMinusZero.
“Expect catchy songs built on a strong foundation and years of experience — ready to deliver something new and our very best to everyone!”
That time has arrived.
Illusions of Life is OUT NOW.
