DB Stewart Explores the Beautifully Strange and Cyclical Nature of Love on New Single “Love is Funny” Ahead of Upcoming Pacific Northwest Tour

Seattle, WA – DB Stewart releases his new single Love is Funny; a beautiful blend of his blues-rock roots and raw storytelling, with psychedelic textures delivering a more ethereal and atmospheric experience on Thursday July 30th, 2026.

“Love is Funny” examines the strange cycle of falling in and out of love, as well as the nostalgia that brings when finally giving oneself the permission to reminisce.

“There’s a nostalgia to past love that I wanted to explore and celebrate,” DB Stewart said. “That said, there’s something really strange about the whole experience, as well. When you go through a breakup, that pain is so strong and that special relationship feels so sacred it almost seem unreachable. I dove head first into the feeling of being certain I’d never fall in love again, only to be proven wrong later. Crafting this song really mirrored the thesis itself, which is love is funny in the comical sense and in the strange sense.”

The track took more than a year to complete, going through multiple rewrites and re-recordings after tracking drums at Robert Lang Studios in Shoreline, WA – the legendary recording studio trusted by artists like by Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Death Cab for Cutie, Foo Fighters, and Dave Matthews. Midway through production, DB Stewart moved the song from electric guitar to baritone guitar, shifting its key and giving it a warmer tone; a deliberate choice meant to mirror the warmth of the song’s subject matter. The chorus was rewritten several times, including changes made in the final month of production, and even after the song was considered “finished,” the ending was re-arranged for a more grandiose, expansive close.

DB Stewart’s fiancée, Grace Metzger, provided the finishing touch to the song itself: backing vocals in each chorus and a duet vocal on the bridge – personifying past, present, and future love.
